- Dr. Luke Canfield: You were expecting that to happen, weren't you?
- John Gant: I wasn't surprised.
- Dr. Luke Canfield: You killed him.
- John Gant: You're wrong, Physician. He started killing himself long before I ever got here.
- John Gant: I like you, Physician. You're like me. You and I may well be the only two honest men in town.
- Dr. Luke Canfield: Don't compare us. We've got nothing in common.
- John Gant: Everybody dies.
- John Gant: A lot of people would like to kill John Gant. But it took a healer with a hammer to make it easy for them.
- Dr. Luke Canfield: I don't suppose you know why he's locked himself in his office, do you?
- John Gant: He's afraid of me.
