Awesome animated series
Tales of the Wizard of Oz (1961) is an animated series that follows the stories of a young girl who gets whisked away to a magical land and is joined by a brainless Scarecrow, heartless Tin Man and cowardly Lion on a quest to find the powerful Wizard who can help her return home. This series was a first time watch for and it was awesome.
Positives for Tales of the Wizard of Oz (1961): It was cool to watch these various animated shorts with these classic characters doing everyday stuff in the land of Oz. The shorts are fun and hilarious to watch. The animation style was amazing for the time this show came out. And finally, I watched the shorts for free on YouTube.
Negatives for Tales of the Wizard of Oz (1961): There were too many animated shorts for me to get through and it was very tiring for me at the end.
Overall, Tales of the Wizard of Oz (1961) is an awesome animated series of shorts with these awesome characters doing stuff.

I didn't even remember the title of this show until now but it's certainly a childhood favorite cartoon of mine.
This cartoon used to air on TV in Canada all the time and even if the cartoon came out during the 60's.
It never felt outdated to me at all as a kid and this was back during the late 80's and early 90's.
Thats pretty impressive that this show stood the test of time for that long.
I just re watched an episode yesterday on youtube and it was still as funny as i remembered it.
The animation and the drawings maybe a little crude but i didn't care as a kid nor do i care now since the entertainment value is still there.
If you have children of your own. I would highly recommend getting a DVD of this series and show your kids.
They'll likely really love this show as much as you did as a child and have a whole lot of fun watching it.
in closing they just don't make cartoons like they used to.

Best show in the world, at 7:30 in the morning.
I used to watch this series of shorts every morning before school. The CBC used to show it in the mornings with "The New Adventures of Pinoccio", another Rankin / Bass classic. I wish they were still on or I could get them on DVD so kids today could enjoy this very funny show. A friend of mine still swears to this day that there is an episode where Dorothy says "Dammit Toto, get down from there." But this is to be taken with a grain of salt, because he's told me on several occasions that Mr.Bean (Rowan Atkinson) is dead. What I really liked about the show was that often repeatable dialog from the show. Also the jokes were right where they should have been for a kids show, not so lame you could never repeat them after the age of 12 but not so sophisticated that they went over the head of the target audience.
I remember watching this in my pajamas
I must have watched this around 1970. Even back then I remember that the tapes had been played so often that the recording was scratchy. But my child brain loved it. It was an excellent show for children with short spans of attention. Because it seemed like you could pop in and out at any point.
Happy times.

Rusty the Tin Man: [reading a book on law] The first thing a lawyer should do at the scene of an accident is run and yell. Hmmm, makes sense.
