- Eddie Chapman: Now go and tell the commandant I want to see him!
- Countess: [studying Chapman's criminal file] Facing 14 years further imprisonment. That interests me. For what we have in mind, I think he has possibilities.
- Eddie Chapman: And for what *I* have in mind, *you* have possibilities...
- Eddie Chapman: I'm a realist. I'm in prison and I want to get out! I don't give a damn for Germany, or for England either. Why should I? What have they done for me lately?

- B.B.C. Reporter: [at a resort hotel on the Isle of Jersey] It's BBC. Excuse me, sir. May I know your profession?

- B.B.C. Reporter: And what made you choose Jersey for your holiday?
- Eddie Chapman: [his attention begins to stray towards a beautiful blonde woman who is walking by] Well, they tell me that, uh... Friendships... ripen... quickly here.
- Countess: [during his spy training] What's so funny? Tell me.
- Eddie Chapman: Oh, this whole business. Every spy is another little spy, and that little spy...
- Countess: Well, of course it's a shabby business. But what did you expect? You're not training for the priesthood here. Stop complaining. The money is good.
- Eddie Chapman: I haven't seen any of it yet.
- Countess: Don't feel sorry for yourself. You're not the only one!
- Colonel Steinhager: Don't you think you have made a dangerous little slip-up this time? Hmm? Don't you, my English friend?
- Eddie Chapman: Oh, give over, Steinhager. You're getting as nutty as Keller. Must be an occupational disease... "Once a policeman, always a policeman." Is that how the saying goes?
- Colonel Steinhager: Yes, and it doesn't make me angry, as you would like it to. I am proud of being a policeman, and grateful. Because we policeman have to be kept on no matter what regime is in power. Whether Germany is ruled by an emperor or communists or national socialists, the State needs policemen and the policeman now who is asking you one more question!
