- Lt. Comroe: Stay at your stations! And hit that security button!
- [picks up phone]
- Lt. Comroe: Get me Major Manchek.
- Sgt. Crane (Piedmont team): Somehow they don't hardly look dead, Lieutenant.
- Lt. Shawn (Piedmont team): [over radio] They're all over the place. Must be dozens of them.
- Lt. Comroe: Damn it! Get this call through!
- Sgt. Crane (Piedmont team): [over radio] It's sort of like they just dropped in their tracks, sir...
- [pause]
- Sgt. Crane (Piedmont team): SIR!
- [vehicle brakes to halt]
- Lt. Shawn (Piedmont team): [over radio] Good Christ!

- [Brief scream and loud thump is heard, followed by silence, except for the satellite homing signal]
- [Scoop retrieval team Caper One is being monitored by Scoop mission control Vandal Deca at Vandenburg AFB. Vehicle brakes are heard squealing over radio circuit]
- Lt. Shawn (Piedmont team): [over radio] Ho-ly...
- Sgt. Crane (Piedmont team): [over radio] Sir, it's another one!
- Lt. Shawn (Piedmont team): [over radio] You're right. Looks dead
