After being inspired by the story of Shirin-Farhad, a Rajasthani man, Ganga Singh leaves his newly married wife, sister, and father to work on dam construction in order to provide water for his desert land. The leading pair of Simi Garewal and Jalal Agha didn't work for me. Sajjan, who played the character of a poor, old father, was brilliant in his brief screen presence, and it was a stark contrast to the vile characters he used to portray in the 1950s. The performance of Kiran Kumar, the debutant, was mind-blowing; I didn't know he was the son of actor Jeevan. Furthermore, his chemistry with Madhu Chanda was one of the key highlights of the film. This is the first time I've seen a film starring Madhu, and initially, I thought she was Mala Sinha. The midpoint of the film was dull due to its extremely slow pace. I didn't fully grasp the significance of the film's theme until the climax. The film was not very engaging at first, but the second half turned out to be fantastic. The ending was satisfying, though remarkably sentimental. The production design brilliantly captures the austerity of the Rajasthani desert landscape. Jaidev's soundtrack was average, except for "Ja Ri Pawaniya" by Asha Bhosle. On the other hand, the background score was exceptional, particularly during the climax. Khwaja Ahmad Abbas successfully portrays the value of water and, additionally, addresses society's perspective on rape victims in a commendable way. In conclusion, Do Boond Pani is a typical social film that revolves around the important theme of the value of water for underprivileged communities. Recommended for fans of Hindi social films.
