- Two silent women in a house, with an eight-year-old girl who has been expelled from school for her violence and is being taught piano. On the radio, a voice reports that two young killers on the run are being hunted nearby.
- Isabelle Granger is called to school because her daughter Nathalie is struggling. At noon, she tells everyone that the school no longer wants Nathalie and that she must go to a boarding school on Monday. Isabelle is very worried and thinks music is the only thing that can help her. She spends the afternoon at a friend's house. On the radio, they hear about two young killers hiding in a nearby forest, which makes Isabelle even more anxious. She can't play piano anymore and starts packing Nathalie's suitcase. She's also upset to learn that the boarding school won't force Nathalie to take piano lessons. Her friend tries to comfort her. A salesman named Arthur Martin comes by to sell a washing machine, but the two women don't really believe his story, and he eventually leaves. Later, they tell the school principal that Nathalie will go to the boarding school. After school, Nathalie and her friend Laurence go to their piano lesson. That evening, the salesman returns. Isabelle calls the boarding school again and says Nathalie won't come after all. The salesman seems interested in her, but she's outside in the garden. Nathalie falls asleep, night comes, and the salesman leaves.—M. Chevrier
