I hate the so called "brother" of her's so much!
That said, One scene I remember is when Blair escapes from the center, she encounters her brother at an airport(?). He gives some stupid, cornball lecture of how he has to live his own life, and then turns her over to the authorities that send her back to the prison! Gah! I swear, I wanted to reach into the screen and beat that piece of $h## of a "brother" to a pulp for his evil act. I swear, part of me wants to see Chris (or better yet, Moco!) go after his ass. Yes, the movie is really that well done, especially if it can raise such blood boiling emotions in me which is very rare for a movie!
Bth: To her brother: STOP SNITCHING!
Still Controversial
Childhood movie Number 3.
Strongly recommended.
I felt like I was watching a documentary
The terrible tragedy of young women depicted in this film was real. Abuse and neglect by parents who cannot and will not take the time to raise their children properly and are surprised when they rebel.
Christine never had a chance. She was kicked out by an abusive father and a mother who could not defend her. She was probably getting beaten herself. She was thrown in with too many others who had problems of their own that were not being addressed.
After abuse at home and in the system, she hardened just like prisoners do and was forever lost.
15-year-old Oscar nominee and Golden Globe winner Linda Blair was magnificent in this realistic film.
Seen this around age 9-10

- TriviaThe rape scene was deleted after it was blamed for influencing a group of young girls to rape an eight-year-old girl with a bottle, but the California Supreme Court declared NBC was held blameless for the inspired-by rapes.
- GoofsWhen Chris first comes out of the shower stall at the bequest of Denny (waving a toilet brush) and Moco, the two girls are standing close together to Chris's right and left, but a longer shot of Chris peering around them shows Denny further down from the stall.
