O
- Narrator: O felt defiled and guilty at having found pleasure in the arms of a stranger. But later, her lover explained that he felt the more he gave her to others, the dearer she was to him. The fact that he could, was the proof that she belonged to him.
- Rene: One can give only what really belongs to you.
- O: Hmm?
- Rene: No, don't speak. You heard yesterday that as long as you are here, you are not to look a man in the face. Nor speak to him. From now on, you'll observe that rule with me as well. You are mine, but before you enter the world of silence, it is important to me you say two words, no more. It's the name of the person for whom I brought you here... and that you'll meet soon, I swear.
- [whispers into her ear:]
- Rene: Sir Stefan.
- O: [repeats reverently] Sir Stefan.
- Rene: I'm leaving, and I won't be coming back here till I come to get you.
- O: How soon?
- Rene: Not too long.
- O: How many days?
- Rene: Now, if you want.
- O: Stay with me...
- Rene: I wanted to, but I'm worried I can't imagine seeing it all again.
- O: You don't like that?
- Rene: I will. Is it difficult to understand me?
- O: I wasn't supposed to speak to you...
- [shakes her head]
- O: or look at you either.
- Rene: [cups her chin] Look at me. I told you it was difficult understanding me. But you seem to, right?
- O: Yes.
- Rene: In what way?
- O: A little girl was walking in the field. Then she passed a huge white rabbit carrying a watch. Her name was Alice. The rabbit surprised a lot of people, but not Alice.
- Rene: And so?
- O: She falls in a deep well. She's not hurt by the fall. And she has many adventures.
- Rene: Continue. Who else does she meet?
- O: Sir Stefan.
- O: You say you love me. But if l asked you to take one of the ordeals l went through, would you accept?
- [She puts his cigarette out on his hand]
