Typical New World Pictures flick from the 80's but a classic

I love New World Pictures movies from the 80's,but this is one of my favorites. It's about two guys, one is a wisecracking schemer and one is a mild virgin.Together they meet a couple of valley girls who want to shed their image by dressing new wave 80's.They meet a fun park and spend the day trying to get to know eachother until at night they run into a trio of bumbling jewel thieves looking for the teddy bear with the stolen jewel in it.The main girl Debbie is played by the beautiful and talented Carolyn Dunn,of the Sweating Bullets fame. Her "I Love You"underwear is cute.My other personal New World faves are"Crimes of Passion","Girls Just Want to Have Fun","Night Patrol","Tuff Turf" and many more, but this is one too,it should of been New World's break out hit when first released in 1985 but unfortunately it was'nt due to its ansemble cast of canadian actors.Anyways "Breaking All The Rules"should get more recognition on DVD,its a classic 80's parody and funny.9 out of 10.

    Filming locale

My brother and I were extras in this movie when it was filmed in 1984. I have a cousin, Andrea Kenyon, who is a casting director. She's on IMDb if you look her up. She got us in when we were visiting that summer.

For the person who was wondering, the amusement park is La Ronde in Montreal. It is still going strong today. It is on Ile St. Helene, a small island between the island of Montreal and the mainland. The island was originally the site of Expo '67 which Montreal hosted.

The movie was originally going to be called 'Fun Park'. I still have yet to see it! Maybe that's for the better?! If anyone knows where I can find it, please let me know.

    Great 80's fun!

I saw this movie 13 years ago and ever since it has had very sentimental value to me.

Apart from a quite nicely planned plot, with everything falling nicely into place, if you are a fellow 80's fanatic, this movie has got to appeal to you. The fashion throughout the movie is unmistakably 80's! Especially Debbie!

The small romantic element is so endearing, with a little bit of suspense and quite a few funny moments throughout the movie, make this really a fun movie to watch, with the nostalgia of it all, you just have to like Jack, David, Debbie and Angie's interesting day at "Fun Park"!

Ok, so this movie is no high-budget dreamboat, but the fun and originality of it, more than makes up for it.

I'll admit I'm quite biased when it comes to anything that's got 80's in it, so I'm the first to admit that an 80's sceptic won't be impressed with this movie, but you won't know for sure until you try!

Watch this one, and have fun, or be disgusted but do watch it!

The director of this movie should have his ass beaten!

Yep the director of Breaking All the Rules deserves a good old fashioned Alabama ass whipping. Why? Because anyone who can sit there and direct this train wreck deserves severe bodily harm. BTW I just read that the director, James Orr was arrested for beating his girlfriend Farrah Fawcett back in 1998.

The movie is pure junk. It's about two teenage boy trying to get laid and a diamond thief. The thieves are stupid. They hide a stolen diamond in a stuffed animal at one of those carnival games. Then our two horny teens win the animal for their girlfriends. One of the most stupid moments comes when one guy says "We're gonna do something that begins with an "F" and ends with a "K". The other one says, "Is there a "U" in it?" They wind up gong to "Fun Park". Yes that was a very bad joke and this is one of the main reasons the director needs his ass beat. The only good things in this movie is at the beginning they play "Mannish Boy" by Muddy Waters and at the end they play "Let the Music Play" by Shannon. The sex scenes in this movie are so dumb, nobody these kids age can be that ignorant about sex. This movie should be shown to film students to show them what NOT to do!

Ok I've said enough bad things about this movie. Avoid it like the plague

    A real cool movie!

I loved this movie when I was younger. I haven't seen it in years, but would love to see it again. I was hoping it would come out on DVD. I loved Carolyn Dunn and her cool hair! And the lead guys were so hot especially Thor Bishopric. Anyone who lives for amusement parks and craves that one last day of freedom before school starts should check this movie out. I have never seen any of the actors in other movies so I don't know if anyone else knows who they are, but the acting was fairly good for such a low budget movie. I didn't like the so-called bad guys in the film, but they did add some comic relief. I also liked the final scene when they played the classic 80's hit "Let the Music Play" by Shannon.
