Quotes12

  • Professor Rathe: [suddenly appears above them gun in hand] HOLMES!
  • [Sherlock Holmes, John Watson and Elizabeth Hardy looks at Professor Rathe and he was about to kill him with his gun]
  • Elizabeth Hardy: [screams] No!
  • [jumps in front of Holmes as Rathe fires her]
  • Professor Rathe: [snarls as she fatally takes the bullet] Damn!
  • John Watson: [bewildered] Where are you going?
  • Sherlock Holmes: [growling as he snatches up a sword] I'm going to get him.
  • John Watson: Holmes, you'll be killed!
  • Sherlock Holmes: [shouts] Ehtar! You're nothing but a damn fraud!
  • Professor Rathe: [smugly] And you, Holmes, are letting your emotions get the better of you again!
  • [fires again but Sherlock dodges the shot]
  • [final lines: a man gets out of a horse-drawn sledge and goes into a hotel]
  • Hotel Receptionist: Can I help you?
  • Professor Rathe: [only now do we see that it is him] I'd like a room, please.
  • Hotel Receptionist: Please, sign here.
  • [He signs "Moriarty" before looking her in the eye and raising an eyebrow]
  • [Holmes has climbed onto the roof in search of a missing trophy]
  • Master Snelgrove: This is truly despicable. Imagine, a cultured student acting like a chimpanzee!
  • Mrs. Dribb: He'll probably outgrow it. Oh Mr Snelgrove, he's just having a bit of fun. I'm sure you still remember what fun was?
  • Master Snelgrove: Fun! Besides, this Holmes boy is too precocious, too egotistical, for his own good. Hell never find that trophy!
  • Professor Rathe: I'll wager a guinea he does!
  • Master Snelgrove: Done!
  • Professor Rathe: Holmes. Remember what I always taught you... control your emotions or they will be your downfall.
  • Professor Rathe: You cannot best me, Holmes. Throw down your sword.
  • Sherlock Holmes: Never. I would rather die a gruesome and horrible death.
  • Professor Rathe: Very well, then I will oblige.
  • [continues duelling]
  • Professor Rathe: Come, Holmes. Is this the best you can do? You fight like a undernourished child, I've already won the battle!
  • Sherlock Holmes: You've lost every battle, Ehtar, this will be no exception! All your dreams have been shattered, your temple, the Rame Tep, everything has been destroyed forever!
  • [Ehtar gets his similar face slash to Holmes, seeing he's now bleeding loses his composure, growls, lashes out]
  • Mrs. Dribb: [about Elizabeth] What shall we do with her?
  • Professor Rathe: She'll come with us. We still need the fifth princess.
  • Professor Rathe: [gloating as they duel on the frozen Thames] Yes, Holmes. Let's carry a while longer, as your Elizabeth's precious life blood flows from her body.
  • [as he takes a swing Holmes dodges and moves off the slab of ice, causing it to give way beneath and stunned Ehtar reaches out to a sneering Holmes before the ice closes above his head]
  • Professor Rathe: [after besting Holmes in a classroom fencing match] Now, gentlemen, Mr. Holmes lost because of one important factor: his emotions took over. He ignored discipline. Never replace discipline with emotion.
  • Professor Rathe: The fools. Their age has turned them to granite. They refused to listen to anyone but themselves.
  • Professor Rathe: The board quoted the school motto at least five times, during the course of our meeting.
  • Sherlock Holmes: Honesty, probity and diligence.
  • Professor Rathe: Exactly.
  • Mrs. Dribb: Oh, dear.
  • Professor Rathe: I find that extremely unladylike behavior in one so young.
  • Mrs. Dribb: Indeed!
  • Professor Rathe: We mustn't cling to things of the past.
  • Sherlock Holmes: It's the man's whole life's work!
  • Professor Rathe: And his life is over.
