For fans of cheesy, cheap 80s action movies "Karate Warrior 2"is a highly coveted gem that continues to be almost impossible to find within North America... The entire series (6 films!) is getting the blu ray treatment, but only within Europe, where these movies apparently have a real cult following.
This first sequel is a direct continuation of the first film, concentrating on Kim Rossi Stuart's character, Danny who, back from his adventure in the Philippines, is enrolled in a Florida University, where once again, Martial Arts violence continues to follow our hero, in the form of a dick head named "Dick.." Maybe it's Danny's efforts to avoid violence, or maybe it's just his ridiculously pretty looks that seem to drive the bullies wild, and make them want to split our protagonist in half, but he soon finds himself embroiled in yet another battle with a gang of thugs..
The first film had the exotic scenery and fascinating locales of the Philippines, but the 1980s Florida setting makes this one a true time capsule and a surreal trip back to the 80s,as seen through the lens of an Italian director.. Of the 5 sequels, Part 2 is the last one worth seeking out, mainly because it's the last film to feature Italian heartthrob Kim Rossi Stuart, who went on to land a major role in the Epic Italian gangster film "Romanzo Criminal." He carries these B grade movies with a likeable charm that makes them worthwhile... The following sequels feature various different actors in the lead role, and they are all horrible, as are the storylines, which become more desperate and ridiculous with each passing entry...
There is a top quality blu ray release of the entire series coming from Germany, definitely worth tracking down for fans of low budget, obscure 80s Martial Arts movies. If you love movies like "No Retreat, No Surrender" you are sure to like this Italian production..
