David Cleveland
- David Cleveland: [to Geoffrey] I was planning to be on a plane tonight. I've got better things to do than swan around like a fairy.
- David Cleveland: [to Teller] Whatever Geoffrey has been telling you, bringing horses back from the dead is not my specialty.
- Eunice Teller: There's only one thing you have to know about horses.
- David Cleveland: What's that?
- Eunice Teller: They make damn fools out of us.
- Walt Prensala: The best things in life are free.
- David Cleveland: It's been said before.
- Walt Prensala: Yeah, by people with no money.
- [Earlier Eunice nearly shot David with his revolver when she accidentally fired it while she was drunk. Now she comes to David's bedroom in the middle of the night]
- Eunice Teller: I was thinking. Maybe we got off on the wrong foot this afternoon.
- David Cleveland: It wasn't boring.
- Eunice Teller: Harry said to tell you anything you want, I'm to make sure you get it. But under the circumstances I don't think we should take that too literally. Do you?
- David Cleveland: No.
- Eunice Teller: But maybe we could be friends.
- David Cleveland: [non-committally] Yes.
- Eunice Teller: I've got a sneaking suspicion, Cleveland, that Lynnie likes you. So let me just tell you this. If you don't treat her right, we can't be friends... because then you'll be dead.
- [she leaves]
