    Franklin Pangborn...married?!

Frankin Pangborn made a Hollywood career playing either 'sissy' characters or very annoying and demanding characters. And, his characters never seemed to type to marry or even date women. This is NOT a complaint...he was excellent in these roles. But it also makes "The Candid Camera" interesting to watch because he plays a married man...something you just don't expect.

The story begins with Franklin's wife arguing with him. It seems after three years of married life, his wife is still dealing with an old car that is on its last legs...or tires. However, his case is not helped when a hidden camera catches him chasing after another woman...and it makes its way to the movie theater! Unfortunately for him, he has no idea he was recorded and his wife can't wait to break the news to him!

So is this any good? Surprisingly, yes. I say surprisingly for two reasons. First, it was made by Educational Pictures...a studio which generally made crappy comedy shorts. Second, it's a strange role for Pangborn...not at all the sort you'd expect...and he's very good in it.

In addition to Pangborn, the film also features familiar comedy actors Andy Clyde, Bud Jamison, Dorothy Granger, Marjorie Beebe, and Harry Gribbon.
