'Buzz' Mitchell

Richard Thurlow: I haven't made a red cent out of photography. It's just a hobby with me.
'Buzz' Mitchell: Oh, hobby, eh?
Richard Thurlow: Uh-huh.
'Buzz' Mitchell: Expensive hobby.
Richard Thurlow: Oh, somewhat.
'Buzz' Mitchell: [Prying more] Well, your real worth must be something then.
Richard Thurlow: Say, would it disillusion you terribly to learn that I practice law?
'Buzz' Mitchell: [Excited and relieved] Law?
Richard Thurlow: Well, now, don't take it so much to heart. I'm liable to make a buck or two out of this thing, you know.
'Buzz' Mitchell: But I think It's wonderful you're a lawyer. I think it's swell!
Richard Thurlow: Then everything's all right then. Say would you tell me something?
'Buzz' Mitchell: Sure! Anything
Richard Thurlow: Never in all my life have I had such a concentrated and flattering interest in my romantic, uh, professional and uh, uh, financial affairs.

Dottie Wingate: Some things are hard for a woman to face alone. I wish you would give me some advice.
'Buzz' Mitchell: [Proudly] Well, that's what I'm here for, Dottie. That's my business.
Dottie Wingate: It's about Pinkie. I had no idea she felt so strongly about certain things. Well, I can hardly talk to her she gets so upset.
'Buzz' Mitchell: Yeah, it's like pulling teeth to get her to listen to reason.

Dottie Wingate: [after being lock in a trailer by Pinkie and Buzz] Now what do you have to say for yourselves?
'Buzz' Mitchell: Well, it's simply this way, Mrs. Wingate. We just wanted to protect you.
Dottie Wingate: By throwing me in a trailer, and locking me in, then driving so I nearly knock my teeth out.
'Pinkie' Wingate: Dottie, we didn't mean to. Are you hurt?
Dottie Wingate: Well, what did you mean then? What is the meaning of this?
'Pinkie' Wingate: [Nearly in tears] Well, we only wanted ... only so you could get away ... and not have to worry about money and ... not have to marry people or anything. Honestly, Dottie, ... I know you do even though you say you don't. I hear you crying at night and ask for Dad. Dottie, I don't want you to have to marry anybody just 'cause you want a new roof, or you want me to go to school, or you want to get Billy's teeth straightened or anything. Honestly, even if we had to live in a trailer the rest of our lives, it would be wonderful. Honest.it would. It doesn't cost much to live in a trailer and ... to travel for months and months and ... eat hamburgers.

Dottie Wingate: I don't understand the terrible dislike she has for poor Mr. Drubbs.
'Buzz' Mitchell: Oh, that's only because she doesn't want you to marry anybody that you don't like, Dottie.
Dottie Wingate: But I do like him, Buzz. He's a very kind, unselfish man.
'Buzz' Mitchell: You mean you really want to marry him?
Dottie Wingate: I'm going to marry him, Buzz.
'Buzz' Mitchell: Gee, then you really love him after all, huh?
Dottie Wingate: Well, you see, Buzz, there are many different kinds of love. It wouldn't be the same kind of love I had with their father, Buzz. That was wonderful. But I'm older now. A woman wants to keep a home around her children. Have someone help her with problems she can't face alone. Their daddy was so happy-go-lucky, he never worried about the future. He didn't even believe in insurance
'Buzz' Mitchell: But everybody believes in insurance.
Dottie Wingate: He didn't. He thought everybody should get as much out of money as possible. Just going on from day to day.
'Buzz' Mitchell: But that's sheer lack of foresight, Dottie. Why, even I saved up $7.50.
Dottie Wingate: Exactly, Buzz. You can see I'm doing the right thing, Buzz.
'Buzz' Mitchell: From a completely unprejudiced viewpoint, Dottie, I'd say you were doing absolutely the right thing.
