Groper Train: The Search for the Black Pearl

A great little film that is sexy, amusing and interesting all the way through and without a pause for breath. Admittedly some of the odd humour doesn't translate too well but this is a minor quibble when a lot of it does and the story is so well told and the eroticism so well dealt with. I guess one will never cease to be amazed at the variety and mind bogglingly unusual things that turn up in Japanese movies, particularly the 'pink' but this one is most certainly a great example. Believe it or not this is about the twentieth in a series of films based around the idea of guys groping girls on the train and what is more was directed in fine style with great angles and lighting, by the winner of last year's Oscar for Best Foreign film, Departures! An absolutely must see 'pink' and I haven't even mentioned the scenes from within a vagina!!

Not all jokes hit home and it is very aggressive in its humor, but it still is funny, if you let yourself into it. The running time is short and the detective part of the movie is really nice. Obviously there is more than a bit of an erotic part to it and more than half of the movie is based on that.

The "print" that has to be taken is a story in itself, but this is not exactly what it seems. There are a couple of things that are not what they seem. And things will happen that you will expect more or less. One crime is committed that is really well thought of. If it works it's actually quite nice ... though I wonder if anybody still has one of the important ingredients to commit that today ...
