The Miner's Daughter

Clementine and her father are not prospering at gold mining when the fellow from Harvard shows up. Clementine is instantly smitten, but daddy orders the fellow off his mine. He immediately sets up next door and strikes it rich.

UPA liked to use folksongs and tunes no one knew who had written them for their musical cartoons; you didn't have to pay the composer, and UPA was.... well, shall we call studio head Stephen Bosutow thrifty? Columbia may have distributed their theatrical cartoons, but even if they advanced some money, UPA had to pay it back.

In any case, this is a typically funny UPA cartoon from the period, with absurdly modernistic designs.
