Ordinary Decent Criminal (2000)

Goofs

Ordinary Decent Criminal

Edit

Continuity

At the same time Lynch arrives at the dole office, a gray Austin Metro parks with the rear right wheel on the white line. When Tony gets out, the same car is parked well across the same white line. Finally when Lynch and his band of men come back to rob the office, the same car is properly parked between the white lines.
(at around 0:24:30 mins) A driver opens his car door to have it torn off by a Range Rover coming from behind him. Then the door is flying down the road, but the car that hit it is nowhere to be seen.
Michael Lynch rides on a motorbike to the social security office he is about to rob. He leans the bike on to the side stand and gets off, but in the next shot the bike is parked upright on its center stand.

Factual errors

The priest (having found Caravaggio) talks about Holy Veronica in the Gospel of Luke.

Revealing mistakes

The ease with which Michael Lynch, and later Noel Quigley, lift a jerrycan with one had indicate that the cans are empty and not filled with petrol as they are supposed to be.

Anachronisms

This movie was set around 1991-3. However, visible in a number of places are both Fiat Punto cars and CitySwift buses. These were not introduced until 1994 and 1995 respectively. In the bank raid scene, the notes which are stolen are Series III Irish banknotes. These notes were not fully introduced until 1996, and the £20 notes shown in the raid were not even partially introduced at the time the movie was set

Audio/visual unsynchronised

The post-prod dubbing/synching of Linda Fiorentino's voice is obvious and badly orchestrated. Her voice is soft and closely mic'd and there appears to be no atmospheric interference, dulling or mixing.
