Fun..
Good show...though I just couldn't stand the third season with that stupid surfer dude.Bounced back in last season when Devon Whitelaw came.Second season was my fave.
This is a show for the 12-year old inside of you.

Stereotypical, but who cares?
For all the people who watch Sweet Valley High expecting something deep and meaningful, you've come to the wrong place. Sweet Valley is pointless and kinda shallow, but hey, who cares? I used to love this show when I was about 12. Of course that was probably the demographic they aimed for, but it's a show that is definitely worth seeing if you're a fan of the books, or even if you just want to kick back and turn off your brain, because face it- it's a very cool show and well worth watching, but if you want to watch something deep, go watch ER.
Awfully good.
I remember liking both the books and the show when I was younger, but it had been so long since I have been exposed to either until recently when I picked up season one on DVD. All I can say is that this show is so terrible, but at the same time, it's incredibly awesome. I don't remember the acting being as bad as it is. Everything seems so forced and fake. Both the lines and the deliveries are laughable. All of the situations that occur are unbelievable. For example, in one episode, Elizabeth's longtime pen pal, who just happens to be a prince, comes to visit Sweet Valley. During his visit, he falls in love with Jessica. Amazing. I definitely recommend watching this if you're in the mood for something terrible.
Don't criticize it, just enjoy it...
I grew up reading the Sweet Valley series. These series have been my life-savers because they helped me learn English! my native language is Spanish and I started reading these books when I was 11 years old. At first it took me like a month to read a 60 page book, it was terrible, but now I can read and write and speak English with no problem at all, thanks to these novels. You can probably understand now why I would be so attached to them, and when I found out about the T.V. Series I was more than happy. I loved them, but then again, I love the books and I'm fascinated with twins, I think they're a miracle. The acting of course is not going to be out of this world nor the production itself, but all I can say is that if you are a true Sweet Valley series lover, you will love the show, I know I did and I even recorded them, they're not meant to be a golden globe winning show, they're meant to be just for fun and that's what it is, fun.
Not quite as sweet as Teen Angel...
After Teen Angel and maybe Home and Away, i must admit that Sweet Valley High is just the best show ever!
I just love the *brilliant* acting and the set designs were superb! And that opening theme song... well what can i say, has there ever been a better song ? (Although that "you know we belong together" song from Home and Away came close and the entire Lost in Yonkers soundtrack is pretty good).
Anyway when i talk about the brilliant acting i am referring to one actress in particular - Bridget Flanery! She played the original Lila and then they replaced her for some reason. I considered not watching Sweet Valley High for awhile after that but there *are* several other good actors in it (such as the Daniel twins). But back to Bridget Flanery - not only was she brilliant in this show she did have a guest role in my favourite tv show of all time, Teen Angel. For those of you who watched it she played the role of Jessica. And she played it so well it brought tears of joy to my eyes when i saw her.
Sweet Valley High was a wonderful tv show and it is a pity they ended after so few seasons.

Did you know
- Trivia'Michael Hayashida' joined the cast in the middle of the first season, as foreign exchange student Koichi. He stayed until the end of the season, when he disappeared, never to be mentioned again. Patty Gilbert also disappeared without an explanation before the beginning of the second season. Bruce Patman was the only character whose sudden disappearance was actually explained.
- GoofsThroughout out the series, it's clear that the actors/actresses portraying teenagers are actually in their 20s+. This is done as to not interfere with the schooling of real teenagers and to give the general viewing audience who are teenagers themselves, people to look up too.
