Parker Posey, Liev Schreiber, and Hope Davis in The Daytrippers (1996)

Trivia

The Daytrippers

Edit
Filmed in 17 days on a $50,000 budget.
According to Greg Mottola, he had sent the script with someone who had a mutual friend with celebrated producer James L. Brooks with hopes of getting it produced. But when Mottola was days away from production, he had gotten a call from Brooks, who liked the script and had notes, provided he would produce it and some roles were recast. Mottola politely declined, due to the film being setup to shoot and not wanting to go back on his word to the cast. Brooks inquired about the budget and when Mottola told him, Brooks ended up mailing a check to Mottola to increase the budget and told Mottola to give him what the rest of the cast and crew would take after the film made a profit.
Directorial debut of Greg Mottola.
The finished film was rejected by Sundance.
Both Parker Posey and Liev Schreiber appeared in Party Girl (1995) which was also filmed in New York City. They would later also co-star in Scream 3 (2000) although they did not share any scenes together.
