Leonardo DiCaprio, Diane Keaton, and Meryl Streep in Marvin's Room (1996)

Goofs

Marvin's Room

Edit

Continuity

As Meryl Streep's character is packing her suitcase in a hurry, she grabs an article of clothing off the wall and the clock can be seen falling. In the next scene she is grabbing another article of clothing off the wall and the clock is back in place.
After Lee walks in the house, the low camera angle shows her arm down and bag at her side. In the next shot, her arm is up and bag is at waist height.
The position of Hank's arm with potato chip changes between shots.
Bessie's left hand jumps from next to Marvin to his chest as she smacks the bed with her right hand.
When Bessie returns from her doctor's appointment, she asks her Aunt Ruth if she gave her dad his "two o'clock" (medication). A moment later when she is with her dad, holding a small cup of pills, she asks Ruth "Is this his one o'clock?"

Errors in geography

Orange World, featured in the film, is located in Kissimmee, Florida. Hank and Bessie drive past it, and in the next shot, they are sitting on the car at the ocean's shore. The Atlantic Ocean is more than an hour's drive from Kissimmee.
The film is set in East Central Florida, since they are a short drive to Disney World, so when Hank and Bessie go to the beach, which is located in the Atlantic Ocean, they are facing east, but the sun is setting towards the right side of the screen, instead of setting behind them towards the west, indicating the scene was shot in the northwest Florida panhandle area in the Gulf side of Florida, which faces south instead of east, identifying the incorrect sunset location.

Boom mic visible

(4:3 Open Matte Version) When Lee and Bessie are waiting in the retirement home, as Lee says "I feel like my life is finally starting", the boom mic is visible in the top left hand corner, above her head.
(4:3 Open Matte Version) When Hank and Charlie are meeting Aunt Ruth for the first time, as Aunt Ruth says the line, "Now which of you fine boys is in the mental institution?", the boom mic is visible at the top middle.
(4:3 Open Matte Version) When Meryl Streep's character visits a psychiatrist, the boom mic is visible twice.
