I mean... Jack Black is in it. With dreadlocks. What more do I need to say? Add Brandy and that guy from Gossip Girl (hi, Johnathon Schaech), and you've got a wild '90s fever dream.
Also, was it just me or were Freddy Prinze Jr.'s scenes filmed on a completely different planet? It's like he wasn't even on set with the rest of the cast. Maybe he didn't want to be near them? I don't know the story-but it's honestly so weird and unintentionally funny.
The movie doesn't really get interesting until the last 20 minutes-that's when everything actually starts to happen. The rest feels like filler, but oddly entertaining filler. I couldn't tell if the movie was trying to parody itself like Chucky eventually did, or if it was just accidentally ridiculous. Either way, I had fun.
Also, shout-out to the tanning bed scene-it's giving Final Destination 3 realness, and I wouldn't be surprised if they took notes from this movie.
So no, it's not a good horror film. But as a campy, so-bad-it's-good slasher comedy? It's mid, but in a fun way. 6/10.
So, stick with the original and you won't be disappointed. At least "Scary Movie" spoofed these sorts of movies. Starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, Brandy Norwood, Freddy Prinze Jr., Muse Watson, Mekhi Phifer and Jeffrey Combs.

- GoofsA Colt revolver like the one Julie uses to shoot Ben Willis only holds six shots. Julie fires eight times and it misfires once, when Ray tries to shoot Ben Willis, making it hold nine bullets.
