Goofs

Edit

Continuity

When Ed is talking to Shari from the street, it's clearly raining pretty steadily. Everything outside is dripping wet and Ed's hair is soaked and rain noise is clear, yet his jacket is dry and no raindrops can be seen hitting the ground.
In the theater bathroom, where Ed finds Shari, (after pursuing her from the video store) they show a reaction shot of Shari's roommate watching at home. Then Ed goes out to the production van and, again, they cut to a reaction of Shari's roommate. She is wearing a completely different outfit.
When Ed is yelling up to Shari's window asking to come up, the light behind Shari is off. In the next shot the light is on. In the next the light is off again.
After Ed's real father dies and he arrives at the hospital, his mother is coming down the hallway wearing high-heeled shoes. After she gives Ed a hug she has flat shoes on.
Ed's feet change position between shots when he is sitting in the bathroom on the hamper and talking to Cynthia. The hamper also changes position in the overhead shot.

Factual errors

Ray says that Ed is 31. Matthew McConaughey was 28 years old at the time of filming.

Revealing mistakes

When Ed follows Shari into the theatre's female bathroom the sign reads 'Female" but the sign below it shows it is a unisex bathroom with a man, woman and disabled images.
