the little man and his flower

a special movie. this was my verdict after first meeting with it. and that was a lot of time ago. why is it special ? why remains special ? because it is a little lyrical history of man and, more important, reflection of its director. the little man of Gopo. Gopo , itself remains in memory of public, the man of little man. so, this animation is only a page from a work - result of experiments.maybe not original because Little Prince is obvious source of inspiration but this story about peace and childhood discoveries is delicate, nice, charming, mixture of innocence and pure form of freedom and it is basic image of Romanian animation. and head of a kind of revolution in this domain. it is not easy to review it. so, see it ! I am convinced - it is a far of waste of time exercise.

Winner of the 1957 Cannes Film Festival Short Film Palme d'Or. The short film by Romanian director Ion Popescu-Gopo was his first to feature his most famous animated figure, a universal humanist figure that became known globally as Gopo's Little Man and appeared in another seven of Gopo's animated films over the years.
