D.W.: [expecting a toy cat] It's a... duck.
Mom: But it's not just any duck, honey! It's a duck that can say five thousand different things!
D.W.: Can it say "meow?"
Mom: Um, probably not.

Mom: Now, D.W., you know that Santa can't always get *exactly* the thing you want.
D.W.: Why? Because I've been bad?
Mom: No, D.W., you haven't been bad it's just that - well, there are a lot of children wishing for the same thing. And...
D.W.: It's because Arthur wrote my letter all wrong, isn't it? Boy, if you want something done right, you've gotta do it yourself.

Mom: Right on time Arthur. Did you get everything you need?
Arthur: Yeah Mom. How about you?
Mom: Well almost everything. There was just one thing that was all sold out.
[It's implied that what was sold out is the Tina the Talking Tabby toy that DW wanted]

Arthur's Dad: Hey everyone it's Uncle Fred's video postcard.
Uncle Fred: [On Video Camera in his house] Is this thing on? Yes it is. Hi Sis, David, Arthur, DW, and of course little Kate. It's me your Uncle Fred
[brings in his dog]
Uncle Fred: and Rory. We're sorry but we can't be with you this year because we're going to... ..
Arthur: Hawaii?
D.W.: Hawaii?
Uncle Fred: Florida.
[Accidentally knocks down the lamp in his house causing the lights to go out]
Uncle Fred: What was that?
[Sees Rory sniffing at the video camera]
Uncle Fred: Rory no! That's not a dog toy!
[It's too late Rory bites at the video camera causing the video to end]
Arthur: [laughs hysterically]
D.W.: [laughs hysterically]
Mom: Oh that Fred.
D.W.: He's so funny!
