The Saga Continues!
This is the second installment of the Sonic series, and possibly the best Sonic game ever made.
In this story, Dr. Robotnik is up to his high jinks again, this time with more dangerous obstacles. Sonic has to stop him, but because world-wide disaster is more intense, he's going to need a little help. This is where we're introduced to Miles (a.k.a. Tails), who would stay as Sonic's sidekick from this point forward.
So intense is the Eggman's scheme, that this chapter has more ground to cover. First, there's Emerald Hill Zone (the tropical region), then Chemical Plant Zone (the outer edge of the industrial area (in the big city)), Aquatic Ruin Zone (a water-ridden garden), Casino Night Zone (the entertainment district of the city), Hill Top Zone (the mountains), Mystic Cave Zone (the underground caves, where the chaos emeralds are believed to be hidden), Oil Ocean Zone (the inner edge of the industrial park), Metropolis Zone (the center of all the industry, and Robotnik's hideout), Sky Chase Zone (the chase as Robotnik escapes in his war plane), Wing Fortress Zone (Robotnik's war plane), and finally Death Egg Zone (Robotnik's doomsday space ship). After all this, Robotnik is foiled again (up until the next chapter).
Here, most of the zones have two acts. One has three, and the last few zones have only one act. You also have to collect 7 chaos emeralds in between the mission, again to keep Robotnik from using them to his advantage(s). Collect them all, and you can transform into Super Sonic!
Sonic 2 is still relatively early in the Sonic series, and further outlined everything that would be required for all other Sonic games. I especially like the music of most of the zones; most of them are beautiful, and are somehow able to match the theme of each setting. Sonic 2 still stands as one of the most adventurous Sonic games ever made.
Next up: Sonic 3!

A classic.
It was an incredibly innovative game and has held onto a cult status for a reason. This game was what really kicked off the competitiveness between Sega and Nintendo -- Sega had Sonic the Hedgehog, and Nintendo had their Italian plumber Mario.
Whether or not you're a big fan of platformers, this entry is a must-play for any gamer. Bucket-list game.

The Game that introduce me to Sonic
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 was the first game I ever played for the series. It was one of the first games I ever had played on the Sega Genesis which is still one of my favorite video game systems since I am a fan of Retro video games
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 shows how a game sequel can be as strong if not more than the original game
Looking back on it the game still proves to be fun, challenging and all around like a fine wine only gets better with age.
The Sega Genesis prove to have a classic library of video games for the system.
Graphics the game features some of the most beautiful on the system even today they are impressive to look at.
The sound with the music and sound effects remain as strong as they did in 1992. Goes to show the game effect on players
The controls are easy to pick up and master if you had play any Sonic game in the past or on the collection games you will be in good hands
The game play is very addicting however it does feature some challenging boss battles and levels that will make you go crazy
Overall if you love old school classics do yourself a favor and pick up Sonic The Hedgehog 2 and if you're lucky you might find it on Sega Mega Collection or Sonic Collection
I give Sonic The Hedgehog 2 an 9 out of 10

- TriviaThe best selling Sega Game in the company's history.
- GoofsOn Emerald Hill Zone Act 2 when facing Dr. Robotnik, Robotnik enters the scene with a Helicopter that grafts onto a 4-wheeled unit with a drill in front. When the drill unit goes past Sonic, he is unaffected, however when Robotnik gets onto it with the helicopter, he is.
- Crazy creditsThe ending credits vary depending on how many Chaos Emeralds you collected throughout the game:
- If you collected all 7 Emeralds, Sonic transforms into Super Sonic and flies and poses, while Dr Robotnik will be seen standing angrily.
- If you didn't collect them all, Sonic jumps off the "Sonic F" plane and poses, while Robotnik will be happily juggling the Emeralds you missed.
- Alternate versionsThe Master System version which was only sold in Europe and Latin America had a different intro and boss music, a larger view of screen, the Under Ground boss was easier (the balls dropped slower and not randomly), and a minor change in Green Hills Zone. Also there are two versions of this one, one has a bug in Gimmick Mountain Zone that was fixed in the other one.
