Moesha's Friend Spins Off
Kim Parker continues to be just as boy-crazy as she was when her character was on "Moesha". On this show, we learn that she gets this trait from her mother Nikki, who chases after stiff Professor Ogilvie in every episode. Unlike "Moesha", which has turned into a dramedy over the past couple of years, "The Parkers" are all about fun. Viewers with good memories will remember Jenna Van Oy as having been a regular on "Blossom". Countess Vaughn, who plays Kim, had a reoccuring role on "227", and was also a "Star Search" contestant in the singing category.
A good decent sitcom featuring TV's funniest mother & daughter duo!
With Moesha now entering its 5th season, Moesha's loud-mouthed and gossipy best friend transitioned to her own show with complete comedic success.
The still loud-mouthed, gossipy, and also slightly ditzy but kind-hearted Kimberly Ann Parker (played to hilarious and cute perfection by Countess Vaughn) is taking classes at Santa Monica College alongside her own loud-mouthed single mother Nikki (played by the hilarious Mo'Nique), who falls hopelessly in love with the school's professor, Stanley Oglevee (played by the talented Dorien Wilson).
Alongside Kim, Nikki and the Professor are Nikki's 1st best friend Desiree Littlejohn (played by the beautiful Mari Marrow) who was dropped halfway through S1 to be replaced by Andell Wilkerson (played by the late and talented Yvette Wilson) and Kim's friends T Radcliffe (played by Ken L.) and Stevie Van Lowe (played by the beautiful Jenna von Oÿ).
Unlike Moesha (which I still love thanks to Brandy), The Parkers still remain on their funny roots for the most part instead of turning dramatic, and it does feature a strong cast of players, especially Kim and Andell from Moesha and Nikki, so if you enjoyed Moesha, especially Kim, then you'll enjoy The Parkers.

Series Finale 2 thumbs down
I think today's episode was very degrading. The professor has disrespected Nikki for 5 years and when she finally meets yet another man who respects she once again drops him for the professor. I have forbidden my young daughter to watch this show in syndication because it degrades women. Nikki's character was that of a strong black woman yet she accepts a man who has publicly humiliated her over and over. She should have told him it's little too late. The professor actions has suggested that he thought Nikki was beneath him and the only reason he showed up at the wedding had nothing to do with love but his ego. If Nikki had married the other guy then it would have sent a message of self worth not degradation. I absolutely hated the way this show ended. I never found it funny the way Nikki chased the professor. What self-respecting, black woman would continue to pursue a man who totally disrespected them repeatedly? Only a woman with low self esteem. Thumbs way down for the series finale.
Funny Show
I watch The Parkers a lot. It's one of my favorite sitcoms, and the best that UPN offers. Monique and Countess Vaughn are both talented, as well as the supporitng cast. Compared to other of the UPN sitcoms, they " Keep it Real". Hope to see some reruns when it goes into syndication this fall.
Down right funny!
Not only this show is one of the top-ten shows that garners a huge African-American audience on UPN,but its one of the funniest ever devised. Think of it as the female version of Sanford and Son mixed in with a hint of The Jeffersons,What's Happening, and Good Times not to mention that 80's show 227(in Sandra Clark mode)for good measure. Moni'Que is side splitting hilarious as the mom was always tries to get the Professor but overwhelming results. Countress Vaughn is the daughter Kim along with her friends tries to conjure up one lame scheme after another. When you see it,you'll be crying laughing!

- TriviaMari Morrow, who plays Nikki's best friend Desiree, disappears midway through the first season. Producers felt the chemistry would be better if a heavier actress portrayed her best friend. Yvette Wilson later replaced her.
- GoofsIn reality, there is no way Kim, Nikki, Stevie, and T could have been students at Santa Monica College for five years. Santa Monica is only a two year community college.
- Quotes
Nicole 'Nikki' Parker: [while directing a church choir] Kim is our soloist. Now go on, baby. Sing mama's favorite song.
Kimberly 'Kim' Parker: [singing] Shake your booty all night!
Nicole 'Nikki' Parker: No! Not that one!
