Marillion: Recital of the Script

Marillion starts to get hits and going to the top of lists with this video. in that concert, everyone can find an extraordinary singer like Fish who gives a personal view and dramatization. He always tries to show anger, pain, sadness, loneliness... Fish a few years later started a short cinematographic career; in spite that he had good qualities for that, he preferred to came back to music.

The rest of the band gives him a lot of space and protagonism but everyone has time to show his skills with magicals solos. one moment to stand out is when Fish wears militar clothes and simulates that the microphone is one assault rifle. the end is epic with the song "Marquet Square Heroes" when the band and the public feels like one. Sadly, it was the last show with Mike Pointer that gives to the film a disconcerting final.

In this show, played at Hammersmith Odeon, London, England, on April 18, the band's perform is fearless, passionate and dramatic. The sensible Fish voice reveals influences of great 70's vocalists, like Peter Hammill from Van Der Graaf Generator(He's thanked by the band at the end credits) and Peter Gabriel from Genesis. The sound is a junction among Progressive Rock, Hard Rock and Pop Rock, resulting into 80's neoprogressive rock. When EMI released it on DVD here in Brazil I didn't think twice: I bought and got rid of my laserdisc.
