Not as bad as people make it out to be

I was looking to buy the original Benji movie on DVD, and this movie was included with it. I chose to watch this movie basically because I like pomeranians.

No it's not Oscar material and no it doesn't have state of the art special effects, but I also don't think it's as bad as some people have made it out to be. It was an okay movie. They did what they could with the money they had.

Big budgets and high quality special effects don't always equal a good movie. Seems like most big budget movies that come out nowadays are either all about the special effects (aka: weak storyline), low brow humor, or it's yet another twisted horror movie.

So this movie was nice in the sense that it wasn't the usual one of the above.

Honestly the single greatest piece of cinema ever.

So tonight my friends and I rented two amazing movies both starring the sensational Gary Busey, this movie and the wonderful Gingerdead Man and I just have to say this movie is not only hilarious, but beautiful as well. You really knew where the characters were coming from and could relate. I mean, when haven't any of us been in a situation like this. The movie was terrificly written, each line added a new twist to the film. Don't even get me started on the special effects...alright, i will get started. The only word that comes to mind is astounding. I've seen a lot of family movies in my life, but this one just takes the cake. I also really appreciated the underlying biblical references, although i thought they could have been more subtle. The ending was also great and I definitely hope they will do the right thing and make at least one sequel. This is up there not only as one of my favorite Gary Busey movies (Along with Point Break, Rookie of the Year, and of course, The Gingerdead Man), but one of my favorite movies ever. This movie touched my heart and I know if you watch it, it will change your life like it did mind. After watching this, i will never look at the world the same way again.

The worst movie I have ever seen

My wife rented this movie and then conveniently never got to see it. If I ever want to torture her I will make her watch this movie. I've watched many movies with my 4 year old and I can take almost anything. Barney is refreshing after a shot of Quigley.

The plot, dialog, cinematography, & acting were one step above (or equal to) a cheap porn film. I feel cheated out of $3.69 that we paid to rent it and then 90 minutes of my life I will never get back. I will say my 4 year old liked it, luckily it was a rental we had to return right away.

I just hope that the younger actor's careers are not ruined from being in this movie.

A nasty guy is reincarnated as a dog...and some think it's a 'family classic'.

I am a glutton for punishment in that I occasionally WANT to see a bad film. After all, they can be unintentionally funny. And so, when I saw that "Quigley" has an overall score of 2.6, I thought this one was for me! What I also noticed is that like many bad films, there seem to be some dishonest reviews which which say 'I love this movie!', 'Wow what an experience!' and 'An unexpected classic'...despite the 2.6 and MANY terrible reviews. Why they were so glowing is anyone's guess...but with a movie this bad, it's suspicious and confusing.

Archie (Gary Bussey) is a nasty man, as evidenced by over the top behaviorsas the film begins. In addition to being an evil boss, he also hates dogs. So, when he dies, he is punished by being sent back to Earth as a dog.... I kid you not.

My oldest daughter watched the movie and kept saying 'How did they get some GOOD and FAMOUS actors to appear in this awful movie?!'...and you do wonder. As for Busey, he was experiencing a lot off camera problems...but this doesn't explain Oz Perkins or Bill Fagerbakke being in the film. Perhaps Oz was early in his career and took the job because of this...and perhaps Bill's checks for voicing Patrick on "Spongbob Squarepants" bounced.

Overall, this is a film with horrid writing and is a chore to watch...and this would also be true for kids. It obviously was made on a shoestring budget and is one most in the movie would hope you'd never see! A truly awful and dumb movie with nothing to redeem it.

    Terrible movie, never watch it.

This is a really bad waste of your time. I would probably rather go watch some documentary than this; it's really that bad.

The acting is really terrible, and you can tell that the producers had a low budget because of the terrible picture quality. It's by far on the low end of the scale; don't waste your money on it.

I have a really hard time believing the person who made this movie that it would fare well. I had to watch it with the kids when my mother rented it because she thought it would be good for the kids. Even the kids (3, 4, 6, and 8) all thought it was pretty boring.

I agree with the other commenter, Spongebob would be a lot better to watch than this.

    Overall: Just don't watch it. Don't. Don't.

    • Trivia
Gary Busey reportedly threw a fit on set because the set of heaven didn't look like the "real" heaven, which Busey claimed to have seen after almost dying in a motorcycle accident 1988. His fit became a fist fight when another actor, who also claimed to have seen the real heaven, disagreed with Busey's description, and production was shut down for the day.
