Harold et Maud

Watch the original as this is just a pathetic attempt at copying the charm of the original. It's sad to know that even back then, some people just had to take it upon themselves to be the the Asylum (mockbuster film company of the century) of their time. Cat Stevens narrates the original and Ruth Gordon is phenomenal as Maude in the original. Like the roller I swear I will one day turn into a drag racer, this one proves to be an empty shell and not worth even a minute of your time.

I take exception to the well-meant but decidedly inappropriate judgment made by some that the theme of a young man falling in love with a significantly older woman was 'weird'! The film is a wonderful compilation of concepts of youth, humor , despondency, caring, enlightenment, and begs to be viewed with an open mind.

Our main character, Harold, has serious questions about the 'meaning of it all' but his method of acting out his 'disturbance' forms the platform for his very funny behaviors. Meeting Maud, Harold is propelled into a domain of thought that is both new to him, and remarkably appropriate to his process of learning about 'self'.

this is a valuable work! The humor might appeal also to a younger audience, but the more serious issues of life/death could be disturbing to one under 17.

I thought it was very interesting, and funny. I liked the way that Harold made those morbid things funny, and the character of his mother. What spooked me the most though was that he fell in love with the old woman, i would rather not have seen that. But whatever makes the plot interesting. I did not like very much how the viewers did not get to know why Harold was the way he was until the very end. Maybe if that first incident at school was shown, and his pleasure in seeing his own death was obvious, it would have been a lot funnier. I overall like Harold's character and Maud's as well. I like how different they all act, and I think that uh, Harold is a weird and lonely young man, and I hope no other boys in our class hope to act like that one day.
