Shelly Williams (series star EVE) is a beautiful and intelligent 25-year-old clothing designer trying to navigate the exhilarating worlds of love, sex, romance and career in Miami. Shelly's two best friends, Rita Lefleur (series star ALI LANDRY), a gorgeous single former model, and Janie Egins (series star NATALIE DESSELLE-REID), an attractive woman who is very happy to be married and out of the dating scene, often offer conflicting advice. Their hip friend Donovan Brink (series star SEAN MAGUIRE), the handsome, fashionable manager of Z Lounge, one of Miami's hottest clubs, seems to know all the right people and places. Also in the circle of friends are J.T. Hunter (series star JASON GEORGE), a handsome guy who enjoys being single, and his best pal, Nick Delaney (series star BRIAN HOOKS), who is looking for a perfect woman who can meet his very exacting standards. Donovan is friends with both Shelly and J.T., and he invariably gets stuck in the middle of them when problems arise.

After a 10-month romantic drought, Shelly finds it increasingly difficult to resist new guy J.T., but her friend Janie cautions her to slow down and get to know him--especially after noticing a jumbo box of condoms in his shopping cart. While Janie, Rita and Shelly debate if J.T. is a playboy, Nick actually chides him for being such a gentleman thus far.

Rita and Janie persuade Shelly that she should know more about the man she's dating than that he's incredibly sexy, so Shelly resorts to snooping through J.T.'s stuff to get to know him better. Meanwhile, convinced that "women love tattoos," Nick gets Donovan to introduce him to Xenon (multiplatinum hip-hop artist DMX - "Cradle 2 the Grave," "Exit Wounds"), the best tattoo artist in Miami.

Surprised to see J.T. with another woman at Rita's party, Shelly flirts with a former boyfriend, Khalif (COREY REYNOLDS - Broadway's "Hairspray"), to make J.T. jealous, which leads to a discussion about dating exclusively. At the party, international singer JULIO IGLESIAS, JR. (himself) performs "Dejame Volar," a single from his new album, "Tercera Dimension." Meanwhile, Nick's new girlfriend Zan (CARMEN ELECTRA - "Baywatch," "My Boss's Daughter") practices reverse discrimination and actually makes Nick feel like a sex object.

Shelly and J.T. take salsa lessons, but J.T. quits, frustrated by his clumsiness, while Shelly continues lessons with handsome dance instructor Tony (dancer/actor CRIS JUDD). J.T. must decide what's more important--his ego or sharing something with Shelly that makes her happy. Meanwhile, Rita can no longer afford her chic lifestyle and moves into a studio apartment with help from her friends. Nick hopes he has caught Rita's attention in the process.

After spending lots of money taking Shelly out to expensive dinners and a concert, J.T. begins to feel frustrated that she never pays for their dates. Shelly brags to Rita and Janie that J.T. treats her like a queen. But when Janie asks if Shelly ever treats J.T. like a king, Shelly informs her that she is an old-fashioned girl who believes the man should bear the financial obligation. On their next dinner date, Shelly insincerely offers to pay the tab and is shocked when J.T. agrees. But Shelly finds herself in a tough situation because she doesn't have enough money. Excusing herself from the table, she quickly telephones her girlfriends to bring her money. J.T. sees Shelly accepting cash from Rita and Janie. He confronts Shelly, and she tells him the truth.

Shelly and J.T. prepare to celebrate their 3-month anniversary with a romantic weekend getaway until J.T. realizes he's already committed to play in a basketball tournament with his friends, including competitive Trevor (Los Angeles Lakers basketball player DEREK FISHER). Despite his attempt to soften the blow of canceling the trip with dinner and gifts, J.T. remains in trouble with Eve. Later at the tournament, J.T.'s guilt affects his game--until he tries to reach Shelly on her cellular phone and discovers that she and the girls are at a wild fraternity party with Rita's new college boyfriend, Chip (SEAN FARIS).

When J.T.'s mother walks in on them. in bed, Shelly fears their romance will be ruined unless she can win his mother's respect. Meanwhile, Rita always has to be submissive in her role-play with new boyfriend Roberto (MARIO LOPEZ).

When J.T.'s sexy, successful ex-girlfriend, Corryn (STACEY DASH - "Clueless"), comes to Miami for a surprise visit, Shelly doesn't trust J.T. and Corryn, so she tries various ways to keep her man from being tempted by his former lover. Meanwhile, Donovan's patience is tested when he has to train his boss' incompetent son to be a manager at Z Lounge.

Frustrated by the long hours Shelly's working during the holidays, J.T. tells her that she needs to make him her first priority. Seeing an opportunity to interfere in her son's relationship, J.T.'s mom, Frances (DAPHNE MAXWELL REID - "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air"), introduces him to an "old-fashioned girl" named Chloe (KELLY ROWLAND of the band Destiny's Child). Meanwhile, Donovan's ex-girlfriend, Fiona Phipps (ERINN CARTER), visits, hoping to charm him into returning home to England. RICHARD GANT guest stars as J.T.'s dad, Andrew, and DAPHNE ZUNIGA ("Melrose Place") guest stars as Sylvia King, an important DivaStyle customer.

Nick becomes upset because Shelly is always at the apartment he shares with her boyfriend, J.T. Shelly eats the guys' food and generally interrupts their manly pursuits, but J.T. doesn't mind. After Nick and Shelly's feud reaches a climax at J.T.'s birthday party, J.T. begs his friends to reconcile. Meanwhile, suspecting that former model Rita is returning to her anorexic ways, Janie tries to tempt her with her secret weapon: Janie's homemade lasagna. And Donovan competes with a rival to create the perfect signature drink for his club.

On Valentine's Day, the friends debate whether or not it was fate that Shelly and J.T. became acquainted. In a series of flashbacks to six months earlier, J.T. almost meets Shelly in line at a coffeehouse but becomes frustrated by her lengthy order. He also nearly encounters her at DivaStyle but leaves after getting frightened by the sight of a wedding veil. Meanwhile, also in flashbacks, Shelly comes close to being seduced by a handsome cheater, Kevin Thorpe (BORIS KODJOE - "Soul Food"), with whom she had broken up. But at the last minute, she asserts her independence, leaves him and puts on the sexy dress to finally meet J.T.--and her destiny--at Z Lounge.

Shelly's successful, Ivy League-educated sister, Simone (QUEEN LATIFAH - "Barbershop 2," "Chicago"), comes for a visit, and Shelly frustratingly finds herself slipping back in the role of overshadowed little sister, especially after becoming Simone's backup singer during their karaoke rendition of The Supremes' "Come See About Me." Meanwhile, since Marty's duped Janie into believing that he's a "Mr. Fix-It," he recruits J.T. and the guys to help build a brick barbecue for Simone's welcome party even though they have no idea how to do it.

J.T. is thrilled by his newfound friendship with actor/comedian CEDRIC THE ENTERTAINER (himself - "Barbershop" movies) until Cedric won't ever leave his side, so J.T. seeks advice from Shelly on how to "break up" with the man. Meanwhile, Janie discovers a secret stash of pornography belonging to her husband, Marty (recurring guest star REGGIE GASKINS), while gathering items for a church rummage sale and fears that this means the couple has marital problems.

Shelly's globetrotting college friend, April (SOFIA VERGARA - "Chasing Papi"), unexpectedly arrives in Miami. The duo's late-night partying antics cause Shelly to get into a huge fight at work with Rita and Janie after they are left outside a club with hip-hop star JADAKISS (himself) and his posse. Meanwhile, J.T. volunteers to bring his "D.J. Fine" persona out of retirement when Donovan needs a substitute for his regular D.J. at Z Lounge.

Shelly jumps into J.T.'s bar brawl and, with one punch, puts an end to the fight before it even really starts, causing J.T. to feel his masculinity has been undermined. Meanwhile, Donovan breaks up with his latest girlfriend and cons his friends into thinking she dumped him so he can get as much sympathy as possible from his pals.

The women at DivaStyle accidentally accept a client who turns out to be a pimp, Rodney P. (MORRIS DAY of the funk band The Time). When Shelly refuses to do business with him, Rodney calls in his lawyers, Sugar-Free (JEROME J. BENTON also of The Time) and Comfort (THE ARCHBISHOP DON MAGIC JUAN). Meanwhile, Rodney's colleagues take his "discrimination" fight to the streets by picketing outside the store. ANTONIO FARGAS (Huggy Bear from the original "Starsky & Hutch" series) guest stars as Shelly's Uncle Jerry, a fellow pimp.

After her car accidentally catches on fire, Shelly asks J.T. to lend her money for a down payment on a new one, but when he refuses, it causes her to question their relationship. Meanwhile, stuck with an extra ticket to a charity ball, Rita asks Donovan to escort her to the event, and the two friends share a surprising kiss at the end of the evening.
