    #ILOVEHEYMONIE

I love "Hey Monie" ! It is a really good cartoon & I felt good watching it. I remember I was busy watching episodes of it after watching clips of episodes from"The Mr. Men Show". It's a shame the series was underrated. I even like the positive interactions that are developed between the main protagonist of this cartoon whom is named Simone & her best friend Yvette. I wish That this series could be released on DVD by either Mill Creek Entertainment, The Shout! Factory, LIONSGATE Home Entertainment or any other studio. Hey Monie is cool but it is one of many underrated shows for African-Americans. I remember I saw an AD for this show on a JET Magazine. It is so UNIQUE & I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

Hip, real, funny, and for everybody

I came upon this great little show by accident while channel surfing, but I'm glad I did. It'll put you in the mind of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" filtered through "Doctor Katz, Prefessional Therapist." Monie is an attractive young woman on her own in a big city, and (generally) patiently suffers the day's little trevails while trying to find love. Yvette is her funny and slightly crazy best friend.

Rather than barraging you with non-stop one liners, the show develops Monie's daily experiences in a way we can all relate to, giving up the constant little chuckle for a broader smile from situation to situation, in much the same way the shows previously mentioned did.

Angela Shelton and Frances Collier voice the main characters, and their rapid-fire, witty banter is just pure enjoyment to listen to. They are very appealing leads.

Try to catch it on BET if you can -- it's worth the half hour. The show features African-American characters but is great fun for all. Apparently it's featured on Oxygen too.

    Luv Dat Monie!

I am not a big fan of cartoons anymore, but "Hey Monie" is the exception to the rule. The animation is actually worse than "Rocket Robin Hood" and "The Archies", but by no means does this take away from the sheer fun of this show. The friendship between Monie & Yvette, plus the rich cast of characters and their interactions towards one another, make it a show that doesn't seem like a cartoon, but more like a real-life situation comedy. I always like to try and catch it on BET, and I hope one of these days it will be available on DVD!

    It's a really nice show.

I didn't see the first episodes that aired on BET but after time passed, I caught onto it and I actually liked it. You could say it mostly relates to black women. "Hey Monie" is about a woman named Simone (Voiced by Angela Shelton) a.k.a. Monie who just puts up the day to day trials and tribulations of a black woman. I like Chad. He has a huge crush on Simone and she knows this too. Luis, he's the type of guy who acts full of himself but still looks good. I love watching this show and I hope BET would continue to air it because it's all right. It makes me laugh and it's fun to watch.

funny as Dr. Katz, but not as popular

As I was watching an episode the watchable-but-nothing-special, Dr. Katz-like series Hopeless Pictures, I had a sudden flashback to Hey Monie. Done in the same conversational style as Dr. Katz, with similar animation, this show was just plain hysterical. But it didn't last that long. I mean, according to this site it lasted three seasons, but my recollection is there were just a flurry of episodes and then it was gone, so they must have shown three seasons in a year or something.

Why wasn't this show more successful? It started on one minor network and then hopped to another (BET and Oxygen, not sure of the order), and perhaps that was a lot of the problem. They may just not have enough viewers. Or maybe the viewers on BET don't like shows about women and the viewers on Oxygen don't like shows about black people? I just don't get it.

It's all very sad. When I looked up the show on the average user rating for it was 6, and that I don't understand at all, although perhaps it's just what can happen when only 7 people have voted on a show.

If you ever get the chance, check it out. It's so funny.
