The low rating this movie has got says it hasn't been seen for what it is. Try seeing it as: 1. A children's film (a dwindling genre); 2. An Indianised fairy tale (a dead genre), and 3. A lovely musical.
It is made by well-meaning people with hearts in the right place. It's underlying message on freedom and human rights has to be perceived and understood. The choreographed dances and songs are top-notch. The dialogues, especially for Jaffrey are intelligently written. And the actor aces this role which is a perfect fit for his personality and talents.
I dare say this will become a cult film in decades to come. Wish there were some young (children) reviewers here to evaluate it.

This is an adaptation of Gulliver's Travels with some Desi touch. Don't know how some people are giving negative reviews for this. Using of such technology at that time is commendable. Things look a bit realistic and that has to be appreciated. Story is good, its well adapted. Chamunda is scary, that acting is amazing by Joy Fernandez. Javed Jafferi is fairly good. But it is Manav Kaul who steals the show.
This is my childhood favourite and really don't understand how this movie is getting some negative reviews.

This movie is best not because it has bad cgi and all but because it was watchable with child mindset.. when i was a child i used to watch this film on television and honestly i enjoyed every moment of this movie, not even oone time i get bored of this. And still recently i watched this movie again..and damn my childhood memories come..its really better than most of today's movie.. i really felt bad when i see it was flop.
j2m2 is an excellent movie with great special effects and excellent storyline basically it kinda copies "The adventures of Gulliver" but still as all the Indian movies copy some movies or the other e.x (kyunki main copies liar liar) (TATHASTU copies JOHN Q) and (partner copies hitch) so this movie has somewhat the same plot, the actors taken in the movie weren't that big, but the movie was made nicely, it used great VFX and great Cinematography, so please whoever didn't watch the movie please watch it as it is a great piece of film making by the bollywood film industry, and the actor JAVED JAFFERY has done great work in this movie, he was really entertaining, and JHAMUNDA was scary too
The CGI in this movie was ahead of its time. The music was unlike anything found in a kid's movie. Anyone with an ear for good indian and erstern fusion music will love the songs. Despite having lot of moments which will not be digested easily by adults this is a very artistically made film. I am not understanding why the rating is so low.
