    Sci Fi Gold!

If, like me, you are sick of trying to watch the new Alien: Earth then try this series. Yeah you won't be as impressed with the special effects but it's from the late 1990's. Makes the teeny bopping, logic trashing, inanity of the new Alien series seem even more juvenile after watching I W H S.

This is a dark and quirky (sort of funny) and totally engaging sci Fi series that should have many more reviews. People seem to have overlooked it. The characters and storyline are leagues beyond more recent crap like that new dumb Alien series. ( I had hoped Alien Earth would be much better, sadly it just sucks rotten eggs). Check out I Worship his Shadow for startlingly prescient writing and enough humor with the darkness to click all the engagement buttons!

    Remarkable

This pilot episode of Lexx stands out as the best of all episodes. The universe presented here is stunning and is as if it was torn directly from the pages of Heavy Metal or Epic Illustrated. How they managed to get this onto the screen without having to cut or censor a ton of material is beyond me. However, I certainly do appreciate it.

Not only is the world amazing to look at (despite the limitations of the budget and what they could do with CGI at the time), the story is fascinating and the characters are engaging. A great mix of tension and comedy, mixed with horrific elements and dire consequences for the characters. There's a real feeling of danger here and the society that's presented is truly intimidating. The bug bomb idea is both brilliant and funny, Eva Habermann is radiant and witty as Zev (I only wish she had stayed on for the rest of the series), and the cast of characters are a joy to watch (with perhaps the exception of the rather annoying Giggerota).

There are more inventive and bleeding-edge ideas in this one episode than are typically to be found in an entire season of most science fiction TV shows. Hats off to the creators of this show for having the guts and the imagination to bring this to the screen. It would be neat to see the exact same show, with the same actors, but with new renders for certain scenes. The actual Lexx ship looks fine even today and doesn't really need to be re-rendered at all. It certainly represents an achievement in 3D computer-generated modeling for the year. On that note, the treatment of biomechanical concepts in this series is amazing.

I highly recommend this episode to anyone who is a true fan of high-test sci-fi. If you've been disappointed in the bulk of the science fiction in film and television and want something with more muscle, then this is the show to watch. Lexx never pulls its punches.

    Lexx I Worship His Shadow

Raymond Small did work on episode 1, was on the ship, bitten by cluster lizard. A very important Background performer on such a paramount series in my career, inspiring to do many more interesting projects.

I worked on a cold, very cold studio floor, bleeding from that nasty cluster lizard bite.I have never seen such amazing special effects in action as on the set of Lexx, I Worship His Shadow.

I remember the incredible painting of all of the set props and could feel the instant I was on set, that I was already being transported into a futuristic realm of time, space, void.

I am very glad I was chosen to work on this project, with high praise to all cast and crew.I think I should have had a chance to do the love scene, Zev.

    Lexx Rules!

I Worship His Shadow is the first episode of the Lexx Series, which started out as four 90 plus minute movies on the Showtime network. Episode 1, I worship His Shadow, goes into the history of the characters that make up the series and the background of the Light Universe.

The first movie is the best out of the 4. The light universe where the story begins is pretty dark and twisted. The music is one of the best parts of the series and this episode is no exception. Any fan of the Lexx series must see where it all begins to really appreciate the series.

Dark, twisted, loud, insane and amazing I worship his shadow is all of these things.

Now re-released on DVD through Amazon.

Some of the best science fiction you'll ever see!

I knew nothing about LEXX back in the early 2000s. I seem to remember seeing a snippet of it on TV at some point, but it looked goofy so I passed on it.

In Seacoast one day (when it still lived), I chanced upon a single DVD of LEXX Season 2, for $10. I had heard some people talking about it online and decided to give it a chance. WHOA...what a strange trip that was. I then went back and bought the rest and it was just as Inventive and creative, so did some research and discovered that season 1 is actually four films that aired on Showtime, starting with I Worship His Shadow. I was so sucked into that world that I had to know how it all started and eventually did find all four films. I then watched seasons 3 and 4, all equally insane.

Do yourself a favor and watch this film (and the rest of LEXX) if you can find it. It's strange and quirky but also so epic that words cannot describe. A brilliantly realized universe and some of the craziest science fiction ever made.
