    Toon physics with Tiny Toons

There are a fair share of 'Tiny Toon Adventures' episodes that centre around an individual story, and there are great examples. There are just as many, and perhaps even more, episodes that are made up of two or more segments (mostly three), again some great examples and many come off entertainingly but the quality is not as consistent with not every segment being completely successful. The premise for "Toon Physics" was very interesting.

And mostly done very well. It is not one of the best 'Tiny Toon Adventures' episodes and could have gone even further with its concept. There are funnier episodes of the show and more inventive ones, though it does have more imagination and spark than a good deal of episodes from this period. Made up of three segments, "Once Upon a Star", "A Cub for Grub" and "The Year Book Star" has a lot to like and the Elmyra and Furrball segments don't have as many of the problems they can do.

Of the three segments, my least favourite is "A Cub for Grub", though it is a long way from disastrous. It is very thin story wise, is a little too cute in spots and Furrball is on the bland side. But there is lively energy, more humour than usual by Furrball-centric segment standards and Lil'Sneezer is fun to watch and brings a good deal of personality.

Was pleasantly surprised by "Once Upon a Star", seeing as Elmyra-centric segments tend to not do much for me. Namely because they tend to not be that funny and Elmyra herself is rather take or leave. Although it lacks originality, it is not too cute and is a lot funnier and wackier than one expects from an Elmyra-centric segment. Elmyra isn't annoying and has a few priceless expressions, and the Barbette makes the conflict entertaining.

Best of the three is "The Year Book Star", which is full of razor sharp wit and wild energy as well as the most relevant to playing with animation's past, filled to the brim with big expressions and reactions and witty lines. The chemistry between the characters is so endearing and fun and while all the characters are on top distinct form Babs shines most of all. Really enjoyed the wraparound story, namely for the character of Orson Wales and what it does with animation's past.

In all three segments, the animation is bright, lively and colourful and the expressions and reactions continue to delight. There is nothing questionable about the music placement or type and the theme song is still infectious. The voice acting is excellent. Maurice LaMarche being inspired casting as Wales.

Summing up, very well done. 8/10
