A subservient girl falling in love with a "prince", a fat guy tumbling into faeces, some disgusting jokes regarding animals and Mr. Bones is shouting "My prince!".
I totally agree. It is definitely the worst movie I have ever seen. When renting it together with a friend, we already feared that this movie might be a bit silly, but maybe funny in a trashy way. It is not. While watching the movie you feel like a 13-year-old boy directed it: The jokes have been borrowed from Police Academy and old Burt Reynolds films (and I like Police Academy!), the story pieces have been "inspired" by mediocre cliche that you have already seen thousands of times and the jokes are simply infantile. Most of the time you see a fat guy tumbling into faeces or you hear Mr. Bones shouting "My prince!". There is a 1-minute dialogue between the "prince" and Mr. Bones that touches slightly pseudo-intelligent ground ("You have to believe in yourself" like stuff) and a ca. 3 minute laughable love story.
To sum it up: The girl falling in love with the prince, plays the role of a subservient woman, the fat guy tumbles into faeces, now and then there are some disgusting jokes regarding animals and Mr. Bones is shouting "My prince!".

Good, clean fun
I thought the movie rock.
What made it even better was to watch my kids aged 8 and 10 enjoy the film.
Everything was kept simple and the good, clean humor, despite some crude jokes, was put in place in a way the whole family can enjoy.
Well Done! This movie has got a place in my collection.
I was disappointed in the overall rating but since some of the finer humor is hidden in cultural differences, it is understandable that some folks might not get the whole picture.
And I have to say that it was masterly achieved.

South Africans will love it!!
This movie is actually very funny...the only problem is that if you come from USA or some other place you will never understand the South African humour in it...so if you are from the US then dont watch it...you wont get it...but if you are from South Africa...youll love it...i really loved this movie...because i am South African, it shows alot of things that happen in south africa and it really made me laugh, so i definitely recommend it to any South African who hasnt already seen it...if there are any South Africans who havnt seen it... this movie has been bad mouthed by many Americans and people in other countries simply because they just dont get it... so South Africans...Go watch it!! of course there are those exceptions of people from other countries other than South Africa who have experienced South African life and who will enjoy it.
Slapstick and poking fun at racial stereotypes
I saw Mr. bones at a "Sneak Preview" where they have shown films such as "Big Trouble", "One Night at McCool's", "Tomcats", "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" or "The Animal" (with Rob Schneider) previously.
If you did enjoy some of the movies mentioned above - which I admit I did [despite of the lousy ratings they have received], cauz they made me laugh -- and life is just too serious outside the movies after all; and as long as you don't mind some elephants' excrements being shown, then your money and time is not wasted at all.
Aside from the fun aspect - and without immersing to deep into the field of mass media theory: I found it quite remarkable, that this sort of movie would be made in the former apartheid-state South Africa: a white "witch doctor", a black pro golfer ... Mr. Bones reminded me of the books by Tom Sharpe (who got kicked out of RSA while it still was an apartheid-state) which on the average get 8 out of 10 from me as well.

Perfect movie for the 10-year-old boy in all of us
OK, so it's not Bob Newhart, more like Red Skelton. But I think you'll like it.
The running jokes about poop were inexplicably funny. Your 10-year-old son will find them hilarious. The roles are broadly written, almost stereotypical, but the acting isn't bad, the plot line is ingenious, the scenery is terrific, the slapstick inspired.
I'm no student of cinema, but the craftsmanship in making the film looks pretty good to me. Camera work seemed quite good.
Your young daughters might get a complex about the movie's premise, or you might use the movie to talk with them about foolish preferences for male children around the world.
A fine little movie, one that'll leave a smile on your face.
