I have been spending the summer learning Greek (long story short I always wanted to learn a foreign language & took a leap of faith. I wrote down several languages & put them in a hat & my blind pick was Greek). It was suggested that I watch Greek movies & TV shows with English subtitles to help get a feeling for the syntax of conversations in the Greek language. And I have watched SEVERAL Greek movies and shows and it definitely helps. Which brings me to Eisai to Tairi Mou (You are My Soulmate in English). This show came VERY highly recommended by several people. I found it on the internet with English subtitles and started watching.
This show is HILARIOUS! It is an ensemble of several cast members and two simultaneous, interconnected plot lines taking place in Greece and partially in Australia. Every one of the 30 episodes is side-splittingly funny and well acted and written. It also has a great soundtrack of both Greek and easily recognizable English language music, usually to very funny effect. Although this show is over 20 years old, it is still fresh and one of the funniest shows I've ever watched in my life. I do have to say watching this show made me constantly crave a cigarette, even though I haven't smoked for over 20 years. Practically everyone chain smokes and looks like they're enjoying it very much lol
I don't want to give away the somewhat complicated plot, but Eisai to Tairi Mou begins with switched identities and the comedy of errors arising out of it. It also deals with issues of societal judgment on class and appearance (particularly prejudice about women's weight and on beauty standards set by society on women) and how kindness, personality, inner beauty, belief in and loving yourself, self respect and respect for others, standing up for yourself and daring to dream are among the most important aspects of achieving personal happiness and finding love. And most importantly finding your soulmate in the most unexpected of ways when you truly open your heart and let your guard down.
One of the central actors on the show, Vicky Stavropoulou, is outstanding and absolutely hilarious and wonderful. She has great chemistry with every single actor she interacts with. Another standout in the cast was Vasilis Andreopoulos, the Grandfather of the Bezentakos family. He was HILARIOUS and stole every single scene he was in, sometimes without even saying a word. But every character and actor is just as great and important to the storyline.
The final episode is one of the most wonderful wrap ups to any show I've ever watched and proves that true happiness CAN be achieved. It really made my heart happy! Just watching this show alone will make you smile, laugh out loud and brighten your mood.
I honestly don't know how this show wasn't adapted for either a U. S. or British audience. I'm just thankful to the man who did a phenomenal job of translating this show with English subtitles.
Don't be discouraged by watching a foreign language show with subtitles because you will be more than entertained by every single character and every single episode leading up to the BEST ending in the final episode. Your face will hurt from smiling and laughing so hard every episode. And you may also experience a few happy tears along the way.
And personally, watching Eisai to Tairi Mou definitely helped me get a greater feel for the Greek language and I learned a lot of new words and phrases from watching it. And I surprised myself at how much I understood without reading the translation (sorry to humble brag but yay me!).
Give Eisai To Tairi Mou a chance, you won't be disappointed!

A beautiful, unique 00s series that blends successfully romance, comedy and drama. One of the most popular Greek television series with great nostalgic music and soundtrack as well. Along with the naivety of this period.
✌Let's list my thoughts.
*Beautiful soundtrack.
*Great acting.
*I really feel that they were a real family and behind the scenes were very lovable and kind each other.
*Charming Alexis Georgoulis's and Alekos Sissovitis's characters.
*Very funny, I laughed very hard in many times throughout the series.
*Teaches us that appearance is not important if you have beautiful soul.
*Vicky Stavropoulou's character was so entertaining and funny.
*I was very emotional at the end of the series. I cried a lot.
*I felt sorry for poor Grigoris.
*I would want more episodes (30 episodes in total).
*Stella and Petroula gave me memorable laughs.
*Stella's and Soriris's relationship was very funny when they met.

One of the most hilarious Greek TV series ever. When it was relished it was a relief to the Greek audience that was getting tired of nothing interesting and new happening in Greek TV.It was the apocalypses for two of the most handsome guys but also good actors Aris Servetalis and Alexis Georgoulis. We also first met 2 amazing comedians Vicky Stavropoulou and Sofia Voyatzaki who dared to laugh with themselves and made hundreds of women follow them by loving themselves more.Other known actors like Vasilis Haralampopoulos and Katerina Lehou re-proved themselves by giving recital of both hilarious and fully sentimental scenes. The smart and quick directed scenes, the big and quality casting full of fresh upcoming actors as much as old good recognised ones, the unbelievable lines perfectly said and acted contributed into one of the most amazing results seen on TV.With serious social messages sent to young and old viewer by giving them hope or something to think about together with irresistible funny scenes that made your day better. Unforgettable lines would be reproduced and discussed between friends for a long long time, and they still are. That's what i call 100% successful!
Such a great & truly well-made series! I adore the characters & the story, as much as I love their interactions, relationships. The ending was really good!
