    not very good

Not a great movie, but a good message of music found in nature - environmental and accidental sounds as a basis for electronic "trance"... But where was the good trance?

I wanted to watch and enjoy. I wanted to recognise and relate. "Trance-Zen-Dance"???... But where was the Zen?? The realism wasn't there. This dance underworld crowd no substance.

This movie's story could have been developed or changed a lot before the attempt at making it. Not much else to say except don't watch it, or maybe it will be enjoyed by future generations for unknown reasons.

not the greatest movie ever made, but well worth 2 hours

I saw this when I lived in Melnourne from 2002-3.

We say it on opening might in Melbourne and while it is not "The Castle" or "The Dish", it's still not a bad movie, especially if you like the music and the whole rave music vibe. What it also does is prove the high quality of Aussie film-making for such a relatively small population.

In fact, if they had made it a 1 hour movie with a bit of plot and all the music scenes, that would have been good enough for me to still pay to see it on the big screen. I bought the sound track and unfortunately they took some liberties on what was in the movie and what is in the soundtrack.

That's really too bad as lots of the movie scenes are not on the soundtrack but in the movie and some of them are very good. I was hoping for a better sound track compared to the movie, but hey, it might be a good rental if you're into the music...

requiem for a dream vs human traffic

this film is the adequate balance between the two films mentioned above. it shows why an outsider would be drawn into the world of e's and clubbing, and at the same time illustrating how easily drugs can shred people's lives from one moment to the next. the science fiction element is a classically trained composer writing operas being drawn into the world of fatboy slim and ministry of sound and sticking to it despite the tragic events that are an an indirect result of it, but at least it depicts drug use, so it's a safe bet that 80% of all English speaking students around the world will see it sooner or later. all cynicism aside though, i consider this to be a tolerably written, beautifully directed and beautifully shot film with a soundtrack that limewire will be grateful for. most cynicism aside, i meant.

    Amazing!!

I saw this movie at the Tribeca Film Festival and it was amazing!!! Everyone gave a standing ovation to OPD. I cant wait till it releases over here in the US so I can see it again. The acting was incredible. OPD will surely make you laugh and cry hysterically. 3 THUMBS UP!!! OPD will make you think twice about taking drugs. Excellent one of the best foreign movies I ever seen! The music is phenomenal!! I cant wait till it comes out over here in the US so people would take out sometime out of their lives to see such an amazing movie worth watching and worth the money! I think if it is released over here soon I think a lot of people will be touched by this movie and Think Twice! WAY TO GO OPD!!!

    Loved, Loved, Loved it!

This movie has the best soundtrack! I watched it at the Tribeca Film Festival exactly one year ago in April 2004, and it still hasn't been released in the US as far as I know. And I still haven't seen any news of the soundtrack being released either. I hate how it isn't easier to see foreign films sometimes. Even in NYC. If this film does ever make it out, I think most people will really enjoy it. Not only is the music and story outstanding, but the message is a good one. I don't think this film has been extremely well received in Australia where it is from, but the US would eat it up. Great work on combining good music, good cinematography, and a good story!
