Not the best of the franchise, but still good

This movie is far from the best of the Beyblade franchise. But it's much further from the worst. The characters are fairly likable, the pacing is better than some seasons, and the battles are fun. Really this feels more like a series of episodes combined together into one, since the tone is very similar to that if the show. My only complaint is their attempt at using CGI for the bit-beasts. While in most other series, the spirits are drawn while the beys are done in 3d this movie makes both 3D and it just feels off

      Suits Target Audience Very Well!!

I must admit having seen the overall rating for this movie & after reading 1 of the user comments I was expecting a horrible movie! I am very glad to say that Beyblade FB was exactly the opposite! It was Great. I haven't seen the series or the other movie yet so this was completely new for us. I have a 7 year old son who, of course, loves Pokemon, Bakugan etc... So naturally BB FB appealed to him! We sat down together and we Both enjoyed this movie very much. The animation, plot and voice acting were all equal to or above what I have come to expect from an animated family movie based on those we have seen in the past! Beyblade is an excellent movie that Most kids in the 6-12 year old range (And above) who enjoy animated action series should check out!

I would like to add one parting request. Fellow movie raters Please keep in mind that our reviews impact other viewers and their decisions! The negative review I read seemed to lose perspective of the target audience and gave BB FB an Unfavorably low rating. This movie has no foul language, no excessive violence Nothing a parent would worry about their child viewing! That is another reason I give this movie so much credit. I am personally grateful for the producers that give our youth an acceptable experience that they can really get into!

Fun movie on an alternate timeline

I have recently watched the 3 seasons of Beyblade and was told about this movie. All I knew is that it was non-canon and is an alternate account about how Tyson met Daichi (somewhat different to how Harry met Sally...).

The movie introduces the concept of dark bitbeasts and their release into the world when Tyson battles Daichi for the first time. These bitbeasts are reflections of Dragoon, Dranzer, Driger and Draciel and builds on the idea that these are the Guardian bitbeasts (from season 2). It was a novel idea that was a nice break from the World Championships and the repetitive element of someone trying to steal bitbeasts to rule the world. In this instance, 4 innocent people are possessed to embody the Bladers that control the dark bitbeasts. These Bladers were out to defeat the Bladebreakers and imprison the Guardian bitbeasts.

It is quite a simple story in essence, but I was happy that it returned the origins of the bitbeasts and gave us a bit more of an explanation about them. I almost wish that this story replaced the comparatively lacklustre introduction of Daichi in season 3. It was not a perfect story though. I wished that the other members of the Bladebreakers had more of a role in this movie. It just felt as though there were cameos and the main focus was on Tyson and Daichi. Although Tyson is the main protagonist in this story, the other characters still deserved to have more of a role. I was also slightly annoyed by how they changed the voice of Chief, although this was only a minor issue.

The animation was as it was in season 3. The characters looked their age, which was the main issue I had with their overly youthful look in season 2. In places the animation was a bit off. It just seemed that the movie was made in a bit of a rush. Perhaps there were time pressures or cost cutting problems. I still think that these issues could have been solved by a more intensive editing process that gave season 3 such a high quality look.

All in all, I enjoyed this movie and would recommend it if you enjoyed the original series. There are a few minor annoyances in the storyline and the character's involvement, but it does not detract from the overall experience. Enjoy!

      Let it rip

I completed the original Beyblade series(Beyblade, V force, G-revoltion) when I was in my early adolescence. After a year or so, I got the opportunity to watch this movie and I felt so ecstatic. Once again, I was reuniting with my old friends(Tyson, Kai, Max, Ray and Daichi). It was a chance to watch the exciting Beybattles again and to listen to those awesome OSTs, which my mind was beginning to forget. While it was really satisfying, something about the movie felt off. As it was a movie, not a series, apart from Tyson and Daichi only Kai got a chance to shine in the Beybattle to some extent. Max and Ray became side characters even though both of them were the major characters in the series. Moreover, it would've been great had the story of the Dark bitbeasts was explored more. In a way, the movie appeared half-baked despite the decent storyline.

Overall, it's an average movie. It is watchable.

Not my thing or most people's thing

I admit to knowing little about the "Beyblade" franchise apart from that it's not really that popular...which is probably why I know little about it. From what I see, the series is about people who fight using tops. I thought it would be a Mon show. Well, magical creatures do in fact appear in this movie eventually. I can't tell if it's faithful to the anime or if fans would like it. I just found it pointless.

Everything is just so cliché and it's all been done before and much better. There's a few token girls, the main character is a big eater, he gets a rival, etc. The side characters were especially forgettable. An ancient evil being awakened has been done a lot of times before too. I've never watched the anime, so I guess I can't judge it that well. I would still take 'Yu-Gi-Oh" over this, the anime not the movie, that was even worse than this. *1/2

Despite the fact that the movie isn't connected to the storyline of the TV-series and since the movie came out in theaters in Japan before G-Revolution started in Japan, this is Daichi's first animated appearance.
      • Quotes

        Tyson: Who are you?

Daichi: My name's Daichi. I challenge you! And when I win I'll be Japan's number one beyblader.

        Tyson: You?

Daichi: If you want this trophy back you have to beybattle me for it.

Tyson: You want it so bad, you can have it.

        Daichi: What?

Tyson: Just go back to whatever tree you fell out of.

Daichi: Hey! Are you making fun of me, Tyson?

Tyson: I'm not making fun of you. Whoever dressed you has already taken care of that for me.

Daichi: [Daichi takes his bag of his shoulder] Oh, yeah!

Daichi: [Daichi takes out his beyblade and his beyblade launcher and fires] Take that!

        Tyson: [Tyson being shocked] Huh!

[Tyson takes out his beyblade and launcher]

        Tyson: Watch it!

        [fires his beyblade]

Tyson: [Tyson's beyblade and Daichi's beyblade ricochet back] You're not half bad. Been practising with the other animals at the zoo?

        Daichi: That's it, Tyson!

        Tyson: Okay, why not?
