Best Drama on Australian TV
I began watching this show from the start of the first series. I was immediately hooked. The cast are so talented and they really do become their characters. I have always watched anything that Claudia Karvan has starred in, I loved Secret Life of Us and when i saw that John Edwards was involved i knew this was again the special magic that both him and Karvan create. The scripts aren't soapy, this drama is written with such passion and talent, it is extremely clever, heart warming and sometimes tragic. I honestly cant remember watching a show and really feeling like you are intruding on peoples everyday lives. I have laughed and cried watching this show and i truly believe this is the best Australian Drama ever produced.
Great Australian Drama
Watched this after watching Offspring. Although I didn't like the amount of sexual scenes, the storyline and characters made up for that. Frankie, Charlie, Tom, Di, Lou Lou were my favourite characters. I really didn't like Lewis' character toward the end. I thought that Dylan portrayed the typical annoying, narcissistic teenager. He was horrible to Frankie when he said, "You're nobody's mother." So awful.
I think this show perfectly portrayed how a family can be crazy and difficult, but is so needed and welcomed during the difficult times of life.
Would highly recommend!

new from 2021
I have only seen 2 episodes from season 1 so far- but I do like this series & will continue with it.
I have subscriptions to Acorn & Britbox because I am fed up with all the commercials & over the top blood & violence in US made tv programs & US made movies. If I could find a way to get a BBC subscription-I would do it- please note- I do live in the US. TV programs here are no longer 55minutes- you get 40 minutes of storyline & 20 minutes of very LOUD commercials.
I would like to respond to: jk-692-23639422 May 2013...this review mentioned seeing more nudity in NZ/AU programs- well that doesn't bother me--at least somebody isn't beaten up or shot or stabbed at least 3 times in a 40 minute program.
Also the review mentioned seeing the same people over & over in so many programs...well this is Australia- not the US/Hollywood lineup of actors. In Australia, they have a much smaller actor base to pull from. I think those actors do a wonderful job & I enjoy seeing all the different characters in all the different programs.
I also enjoy TV & movie programs out of the Scandinavian countries. I watch less of them because I have to read most of the dialogue. I am hoping in the future that some sort of AI can be invented that will automatically put those programs in whatever local language the viewer has.
Not all of my review is sour grapes...I do still catch some NBC & CBS shows on another subscription here in the US. That allows me to not have to watch the commercials-I just watch them all 1 day after they are on tv.
Just so you know, Chicago Fire is my favorite & I really enjoy it when the Severide character runs around in his boxers!!

Love my Way, second series
By chance I started watching Love my Way, first series. I was straightaway taken by the directness, the humor, the seriousness, the directing, the acting. At last, again, a series that shows life, as it is.
Last night I saw the last episode to the second season. I think it brave to end so well. It would be easy to leave characters dangling on bad luck or despair. But life, after all, is bigger than that.
Great, really great performances by all actors. Very convincing. Very well directed. I'm looking forward to a next season?!

Arguably the best Aussie drama ever!
Love my way should really have been titled "Life As It Really Is". Southern Star's John Edwards and his writers have somehow managed to depict the lives of 30-somethings living in Sydney with realism, humour and life situations that many of us can relate to.
Claudia Karvan is outstanding as Frankie, a single mother whose honesty and intelligence don't keep her safe from the emotional roller coaster ride that life can sometimes be. Asher Keddie, Ben Mendelsohn, Dany Wyllie and Brendan Cowell share Frankie's life, loves and disasters while steering their own lives down some pretty rocky roads.
I know television is saturated with barely watchable soap operas, but Southern Star's entries such as Love My Way, Tangle and Secret Life of Us, are a cut above the mainstream and tremendously entertaining. This is addictive television at its best. 9/10
