Force of Impact

Michael Moiarity at his worst Very typical, nothing new.

This could have been a good movie, but the acting is terrible!

I see a lot of comments about the different versions of this movie, but nobody seems to mention the thing that most concerned me about this tolerable disaster film (nearly all these stories about giant asteroids menacing the earth have the same plot, more or less, but I tuned in anyway to see Rae Dawn Chong as the heroic scientist). Watching Michael Moriarty in his role as the general was distracting because he seemed to be having problems playing his part that had nothing to do with the script or the direction. He was walking with a stick, and in the dialogue scenes he seemed to stare straight ahead and deliver his lines with little or no animation. Was he ill? Had he had a stroke?

This film has been released in three different countries under three different titles,and each version is slight different. In the United Kingdom,the film was released on DVD with this title,Ultimate Limit. In Canada this film was released on DVD with this title,Force of impact. In the US this film was released under the title,Deadly skies. The US version has the main hero portray as a gay man. The UK and Canadian version have these scenes edited,yet the UK version is slightly different than the Canadian version. This film,made for cable TV was not that bad. I have seen both the UK and Canadian versions. I have not seen the US version.

This is a B movie. I like B movies. My review will reflect that attitude.

I've read that this movie has been released with both gay scenes and without them. The version I saw had no gay scenes so I can't comment on them.

I enjoyed the movie. The actors were mostly believable.

It contains the usual handsome, brave, smart leading man and an appealing female costar. Although I think Rae Dawn Chong should have been younger but you work with what you're given. Most of the supporting actors do a fine job. Especially the General, Michael Moriarty.

I give this movie an enthusiastic thumbs up and I recommend it to all fans of the B movie genre.
