THIS SHOW IS DUMB AF THATS WHY ITS FUNNY

I recently came across a clip of Cody Ko's show on YouTube, and it had me in dying bro omg - it was absolutely hilarious! Intrigued, I decided to check out more episodes, but to my surprise (and amusement), they were just as absurdly scripted as the one on YouTube. While I initially expected a more genuine approach, the exaggerated and artificial dialogues turned out to be the source of its humor.

Despite the scripted nature of the show, if you approach it with the understanding that it's intentionally fake, it becomes even more entertaining. The over-the-top nature of the conversations, although occasionally bordering on cultural insensitivity, can be excused considering the context of the early 2000s. It's a wild ride that guarantees a good laugh, provided you embrace the intentional absurdity.

    Anger

Just watched this show for the first time, and a strange sort of anger, a fury, took hold of me. Anger now, is reason enough for a comment on IMDb. 'Date my mom' is a show bought by a Dutch TV-channel, and probably bought by a whole lot of other countries, intended for people of 16 or less to watch. While watching the actors, because that's what they are, say their lines, because that's what they are, all i could think was: where or what or who is the force that gives shows like these the opportunity to be on television? And, assuming it's a human force, alas, is it not ashamed of itself? Not to mention the shows that are far worse.

Regarding this as a fictional item, i can be brief: the actors seem to do their very best at making something of the dialogue they have been given; it's quite obvious, however, that they are not comfortable in their roles.

As for the director and the writer: if you can't make up your mind as to whether you should make fiction or documentary, make nothing at all. If you are afraid of unexpected turns, stay away from either. If you can't write, stay away from either.

The producer has a talent for selling rotten fruit so, even though there are thousands of people with a talent for buying, please, use your talent somewhere else.

Thinking of the generation of children growing up with even the least bit of this sort of television, wondering how they will rule the earth, my mind goes apocalyptic on me, and i don't know whether to laugh or cry. Probably both, and that will be the way that i go under.

An overly scripted reality dating show...

"Date My Mom" is another reality TV dating show spin-off comparable to MTV's other efforts like "Room Raiders". The premise is that guys or girls date the mom and learn about their prospective date through the mother before they are able to actually meet the younger counterpart. Then the mothers that are voted off sashay their daughter or son in front of the one that turned them down. This show is sometimes funny, but all too often, it seems too plastic and scripted. I would like the show to flow with the awkwardness of really meeting a prospective date's mother for the first time. All too often, it seems like the people on the show are reading lines or coming up with quirky one-liners that real people don't think of in spur of the moment situations. But such is the nature of the reality TV beast.

    An obviously satirical piece

I think what many of these viewers are missing is what's right in front of them: that the show is supposed to be taken satirically. It's just camp, kitsch, and a little silly. Plus, the script is actually quite funny and got a lot of laughs out of me and others, remember to not always take things so seriously and let yourself enjoy it. The first episode was also extremely funny, although with some problematic takes. Just let it be nothing more than a comedy or sketch, and you'll catch yourself tummy laughing a little bit. Also, it's the 2000s, a completely different time with a different audience and demographic, keep that in mind. It's a 9, not a 10, because it still takes a little bit of the cheaper route at points and seems to go a little far on some rather, goofier... jokes. It's fire though.
