Before Neo-Realism, There Was The Chase comedy

A man steals a bicycle and rides off on it. He is pursued by a random assortment of people on foot, in carriages, in automobiles, through the streets, up buildings, through barriers and across rivers.

A year or so after the first chase comedies, this elaborate one takes most of a reel of film, and some of the effects are still amusing. The comic chase would become a part of movie comedy's vocabulary, and even today many comedies end with a chase.
