Quotes15

  • Jake Greyman: [last lines - narration] Let those with morals worry about morality. As for me, I'll just do what I always do. Only this time I'll do it my way.
  • [pounces]
  • [first lines]
  • Maria: [possessed] Look at the pretty man. Hello, pretty man. Are you here for your friend? I'm afraid you're too late to save him.
  • Jake Greyman: I didn't come here to save him.
  • Maria: Then perhaps you've come to play with me.
  • Jake Greyman: I'm not here to wallow with pigs, either.
  • Maria: Then you must die now...
  • Maria: What are you?
  • Jake Greyman: You know what I am... a lot better than I do.
  • Jake Greyman: Gentlemen, I'm afraid this lady's very sick. I think it's a good idea if I just take her straight to the hospital.
  • Guard: We'll take her to the hospital. She's our problem.
  • Jake Greyman: Well, that's where you're wrong. I'm your problem.
  • Guard: Listen, Abraham, or whoever you are, I'm not buying your cop bullshit, okay?
  • Jake Greyman: The woman. Where is she?
  • Guard: Go fuck yourself.
  • Jake Greyman: She's very dangerous right now.
  • Guard: I said go fuck yourself.
  • [Jakes knocks him into a headstone and to the ground]
  • Jake Greyman: Now you listen to me. You gonna tell me what I wanna know or I will tear you to pieces. Then one of your cronies will tell me when he's done shittin' himself.
  • Jake Greyman: [narration] My name's Jacob Greyman. I'd like say most people call me Jake, but the truth is what most people call me isn't worth repeating. Not that I blame them. Nietzsche only had it half-right: he who fights monsters must become one himself, or be one to start with, otherwise you're just gonna get your ass kicked. That's the fundamental problem with trying to draw the line between good and evil. The real choice is between predator and prey, no matter which side of the line you want to side on. It may not be right, it may not be fair, but then again neither is life. All you gotta do is look around to see that
  • Cardinal White: Father Patrick?
  • Jake Greyman: He's dead.
  • Cardinal White: He was a good man.
  • Jake Greyman: He was a moron!
  • Cardinal White: Why, for trying to save an innocent girl?
  • Jake Greyman: For not realizing she's not an innocent girl any more.
  • Cardinal White: All I'm asking is that you show a little respect for the dead...
  • Jake Greyman: Why should I, they don't seem to show any for me.
  • Jake Greyman: [to demon] I have no rightful place in this world, and neither to you.
  • Sister Sarah Ryan: Are you okay?
  • Jake Greyman: It's always a matter of degree...
  • Cardinal White: Now, you concentrate on finding the demon.
  • Jake Greyman: Yeah, I'll put an ad in the paper.
  • Jake Greyman: [after subduing body guard in cemetery] You better get out of here before sunset, or I'll be the nicest guy you met all day.
  • Sister Sarah Ryan: [Jake has just armed her with a gun and a crucifix] This is insane...
  • Jake Greyman: No, insanity is actually a legal term defining the inability to decipher right from wrong. In this situation I think everybody already knows what side they're on, okay?
  • Jake Greyman: We all have a choice.
  • Sister Sarah Ryan: No! They have a choice. Humans have a choice. If they didn't, we wouldn't exist.
  • Sister Sarah Ryan: [raspy] Look at me, Jacob.
  • Jake Greyman: [uninterested] Yeah.
  • Sister Sarah Ryan: [growls] Look at me, Jacob! Do you think I have a choice?
  • Jake Greyman: We all have a choice.
  • Sister Sarah Ryan: No! They have a choice! Humans have a choice. If they didn't, we wouldn't exist.
  • [snarls]
  • Sister Sarah Ryan: But we both exist, don't we, Jacob? You and I. That's because somebody made a choice.
  • Jake Greyman: And paid the price. But we don't have to be a part of it.
  • Sister Sarah Ryan: Don't we? Why are there sides if we weren't meant to play them out? Why is there a war if we weren't meant to fight it? It's God's plan, Jacob. You're already a part of it, whether you like it or not.
  • Jake Greyman: I'll choose which part.
  • Sister Sarah Ryan: [purrs] Tsk-tsk-tsk-tsk-tsk. Blinded by his own arrogance. It's clear who your father is.
  • Jake Greyman: I don't care who my father is.
  • Sister Sarah Ryan: Well you should, 'cause you'll be standing before him either way in the end.
  • Jake Greyman: In the end, but it's where I'm standing here and now that really matters.
  • Sister Sarah Ryan: You can't stop me from stripping the blood of the innocent. It's my destiny.
  • Jake Greyman: I don't think so.
  • Sister Sarah Ryan: I'll see you in Hell... brother.
  • Jake Greyman: [eyes glow red] Eventually.
  • [Jacob rushes inside the mausoleum only to find that Sister Sarah, now transformed into a hybrid demon spawn, has already killed Asmodeus by ripping out his evil heart, then devouring it]
  • Jake Greyman: What have you done?
  • Sister Sarah Ryan: Strange question from one who kills demons. What's the matter? I thought you wanted him dead.
  • Jake Greyman: What are you?
  • Sister Sarah Ryan: You said it yourself. This wasn't the first demon to get loose on earth, and you aren't the only demon spawn to have its dark nature suppressed by the church.
  • [Sarah chuckles]
  • Jake Greyman: And now that it's out?
  • Sister Sarah Ryan: What do YOU think? I go back to the convent and pray to a God who rejected me from the start?
  • [enraged]
  • Sister Sarah Ryan: There's no salvation for the damned, Jacob!
  • Jake Greyman: I know that.
  • Sister Sarah Ryan: And still you try. You're a fool, wasting your moments of freedom serving cattle and vermin.
  • [Sarah spits]
  • Jake Greyman: And what about you, Sarah? Now that you know your position in the battle between Heaven and Hell, what are you gonna do?
  • Sister Sarah Ryan: What we were born to do. What you lack the courage to do.
  • Jake Greyman: Lack the courage? Because I refuse to give in, take the easy path? You don't have to switch sides just because you don't like what you've become.
