The more human side of John Drake.

This episode's summary might be confusing to many folks. After all, few folks outside the UK will know that a 'WREN' is a nickname for women serving in the Women's Royal Naval Service (WRNS; popularly and officially known as the Wrens). Just thought I'd toss this in to make things a bit more clear.

The show begins with a WREN being murdered. Who, exactly, did it isn't certain nor is the motive. However, the trail seems to lead to an ex- Navy man who is now living in Spain. Drake is to determine if he's guilty and take action. However, Drake shows a strongly human side in this show, as he's NOT content just to prove the guy's a killer and punish him but he wants to figure out why and were there any extenuating circumstances. To do this, he becomes friends with the suspect and a bromance soon develops.

This is a pretty good episode of "Secret Agent". As I mentioned above, it's more human than you might expect from a spy--and I liked that. The only negative is the ending--which seemed a bit of a slow fizzle instead of a satisfying ending. Still, it's well worth seeing.

    • Trivia
The song, Mio Amore Sta Lontano, which is used prominently as the leitmotif in several episodes, is used here in an instrumental-only version, playing softly when Drake first speaks with Ms. Cazalet at she pours him a drink. Mio Amore Sta Lontano is perhaps better known as She's Not There, a hit for The Zombies, at this time, and it's haunting melody, as well as its lyrics - in English, or, in Italian - adds a melancholy quality when used in used in various Danger Man episodes.
    • Goofs
In the final scene in the room the right side of Drake's jacket collar alternates between being turned up or folded down, depending on the camera angle.
