The previous episode was very good, so I hoped that it meant that the show as a whole would be improving, but this episode made me think that the previous success was just a fluke. The show is back to its previous recipe of ridiculous (in the worst possible way) characters and stupid situations that are supposed to be funny, but are not even near it.
Dharma is supposed to be unconventional and quirky, but too often her behavior is blown out to be that of an escaped mental patient from another galaxy who somehow found herself on Earth. Jane is absolutely horrible and unlikable. Every second she is on screen makes an episode that much worse. And Penn and Teller's cameos here were another low. When I first found out about them, I found them entertaining, but over the time that changed to mildly amusing and then to mostly annoying. Them so desperately trying to prove that they are multi talented and not just magicians only makes it worse.
Teller's role here is cringe personified. I guess his "no talking" schtick made him think that he is some kind of a mime genius or a silent movie superstar, but he is definitely neither. At least Penn's role was mercifully short and he, for a change, also said nothing, which was the only good thing about his appearance, because he is so in love with the sound of his voice that he usually blabbers on top of his blabbering. I find it especially annoying how he likes to give fake "disclaimers" that he is just a magician and not qualified about other things, and then goes on to aggressively give advice about everything to everyone.
