    The Empty Nest Syndrome

After struggling to get Jeff (Paul Peterson) and Mary (Shelley Fabares) both fed and to bed, Donna (Donna Reed) is exhausted. Alex (Carl Betz) is just as tried from the "treadmill" of working at his home office, and suggests he and Donna "try to get away for a weekend," without the children. Of course, Alex is unable to coordinate his schedule. But, when both Mary and Jeff are invited on weekend trips, Donna and Alex find their wish to be alone is unexpectedly granted. So, how long will it be until Donna misses the children? - In this episode, Donna mentions she was married at age 18; in "The Flowered Print Dress", the Stones were wedded 15 years.
