Rodney Dangerfield was expected to have at least fifteen minutes of material ready for the recording session, but that didn't get across somehow and all he mustered was maybe a half-dozen jokes. The creators coaxed a few more jokes out of him but taped a good bit of cranky griping too ("Am I finished? You're killing me here!"..."What am I waiting for now?"), some of which was used to fill out and patch his rather abbreviated appearance.
