$100,000.00 embezzled....that's a lot of money then or now!

"The Big Gambler" is a pretty straight-forward and unremarkable episode of "Dragnet". The department receives a call from a company that just discovered that $100,000 has been embezzled...and detectives Friday and Gannon need to figure out which employee's done it. There are three main suspects and the pair need to look into these folks' background to determine who might be the perpetrator. Ultimately, it turns out to be a case of a compulsive gambler.

This is neither a good nor bad episode....and nothing really jumps out at you about it. But they all can't be exciting cases with great Joe Friday quips! Still, well worth seeing and worth your time.

TV Info button shows misleading plot

This episode is about a GAMBLING addict who is driven to white collar theft. The info button on my TV shows the plot to be about a DRUG addict who is driven to white collar theft. Thought the rest of the plot info shown on my TV info button is correct - It is a bit misleading.

Virginia Gregg is said to have been Jack Webb's most prolific actress and appeared in thirteen episodes. Vic Perrin appeared in even more: sixteen. They both appear here together, playing husband and wife, although they do not share any scenes.
    • Goofs
When Friday and Gannon are staking out the company at the end of the day, the same man in a red coat, tan pants, black shoes, and fedora is seen exiting the building twice in separate shots surrounding a shot of Friday and Gannon talking in the car about fried chicken.
