    Very Annoying Mother

I must admit Peggy Webber was a great actress, because this episode never fails to make me sick of her. She is anal and overbearing, and she does nothing to help solve the problem of her missing children. In fact, she does nothing but sit on her lazy backside on a chair she never gets out of for the entire thirty minutes. She also verbally fights with Friday and Gannon whenever they offer suggestions as to where the children may be. No wonder her husband turned to the bottle. You would need to in order to live with this woman. Other thoughts: I thought the refrigerator scene was a little over the top; the two cute kids were not credited; and about ten minutes into the show when Friday and Gannon were on the front porch, in the background you see a red, 1967 Plymouth Barracuda, which appeared in multiple previous Dragnet scenes.

    • Trivia
Sgt. Friday refers to a uniformed cop, played by Kent McCord, as "Reed," the role he will play in Adam-12 (1968) later. Here, Reed appears to be the senior officer, and not a rookie.
    • Goofs
When Friday and Gannon are driving to Bert Stanley's apartment there is a shot of them driving from inside the car. As they make a left turn, you can see that the steering wheel has metal spokes with holes drilled in it like the sports/muscle cars of the day. This would not be consistent with the plain undercover Fairlane sedan that they are in.
    • Quotes

Sergeant Joe Friday: This is the city, Los Angeles, California. The engineers are already laying out the freeways they'll be driving on 20 years from now, and it looks like we're gonna need 'em. There's just about everything here a youngster could want: parks and playgrounds, sunshine, plenty of space, and the whole Pacific ocean. We have good schools when they're old enough, and fine medical facilities if they need them. But here, as anywhere else, children can get into trouble because they don't know any better, or trouble can come to them because they're weak and innocent, and an attractive target. When that happens, then it's my job. I carry a badge.
