Why would you waste a whole episode on a crossover episode with your new cop show, and go out of your way to depict useless, lazy cops? This dude is furious that he's being asked to do the bare minimum of his job. Incredibly realistic depiction of cops to be fair, but I doubt that was their original intent. ACAB and especially on whatever failed procedural that was supposed to be. Lazy, abusive, incompetent, I can't watch this jerk on screen anymore, I'm skipping to the next episode. The 4 people on Planet Earth hoping for a return of the Chloe storyline must be so disappointed with this episode.
They just had to rehash the Susan/Chloe story--and worse yet--do a crossover episode that nobody cares about. Certainly not Chloe who was annoying enough in the first couple of seasons. She's like a bad rash that you thought was gone.
Anyway, I fast-forward through the Lewis parts and stick with the ER story. Carter has never been a very good teacher. Not like Benton or Greene. We've seen the students he's had in the past, and how he's treated them. So, how does he handle Pratt and Gallant doing something that Malucci would have done? This episode gives us some insight into Carter's teaching methods...for better or worse.

Crossovers rarely work, this one is no different.
Can we not find something for Susan to do in Chicago? Sending her to NY to hang out on another TV show completely throws off the rhythm of the season. Chloe's character is soul grating, completely insufferable, has been the entire run of the series. The writers should have put her in the same car as Carla. The show needed to let the other characters shine a bit, I get that, but this episode is unfocused and all over the place.
It was funny to see how violent the cops were allowed to be on network TV 20 years ago, wouldn't fly in today's environment. Post 9/11 Fire&LEO were rock stars, times have changed.
